Holy splitting bananas! I swear I- wait... can you imagine a banana suddenly doing a split in the middle of the floor? I mean... If a person managed to somehow step on that banana then they would surely be the one doing splits, but anyways! I swear I pressed publish and it didn't, well... publish. So I am very very sorry for the late update, but the wait is over and finally I give you... chapter 16!

"I don't understand?" William looked as confused as ever, asking his usual 20 questions while making deeply concentrated faces as he tried to make sense of the words coming out of Scarlett's mouth. "You want me to lie to Cayden? I'm not sure if you've noticed this before, Scarlett, but you're practically taking a swim in your own blood. I think Cayden will notice this the moment we set foot in the mansion. Come on, Scarlett... she tried to kill us. Can't we at least return the generosity? I don't even know how you survived that. Not that I'm complaining, of course, but how the hell are you still alive?"

Scarlett smirked and stifled a wince. She was sitting in the car, the passenger side unfortunately, with William as company. They had managed to safely return home and were now parked in front of the massive front doors of the gang's mansion.

"Well, apparently I have this thing called "main-character-syndrome". It is a gift and a curse, of course, but do not worry your little freckles about it. And do not start giving me drama about "lying to Cayden" and all that other bullshit either. You are just keeping some information from him which does not necessary mean you are lying so congratulations... you are still going to heaven. Now, get someone you trust to guard my room door and shut up for a moment."

She then proceeded to open the car door before climbing out, immediately regretting her fast movements as pain errupted from both her legs. Grabbing the side of the door, she clenched her eyes shut and took deep breaths until the pain subsided a little bit. When she opened them again, William was standing in front of her with a worried expression etched on his face.

"Do you need help? Is there something I can do? Oh God, I really don't know what-"

"William!" Scarlett hissed as she brought her hand up to rub her temple. She had a big headache and William's rambling wasn't helping her situation at all.

"Just do what I told you to do and stop talking, okay?"

"Damn, who died and made you boss?"

Scarlett rolled her eyes as she watched him sprinting towards the front door.

Idiot...

She sighed and looked down at her legs, wincing at the amount of blood covering them. The pain had disappeared the moment adrenaline started kicking in, meaning the exact moment she killed the Goon.

The adrenaline clearly still hadn't faded, though, and the pain still hadn't kicked in, but she was starting to worry about the amount of blood she was losing and she could feel it in the splitting headache that was currently throwing a party up there.

Focus, Scarlett! Now is really not a good time to think about that.

She was a little bit dizzy as she made her way to the front door. Every step felt ten times heavier than what she was used to and yet she still pushed herself up the stairs to her room.

What felt like hours, but could only have been a few minutes, Scarlett finally reached her door and was glad to see a rather big man standing there.
