A/N: Hey, everyone! I am so sorry about not being able to update for the last week or so. I've been busy with work, so I haven't really had a lot of time to write. Anyways, here is the next chapter! Enjoy! :D
The plane landed without any issues, much to (Y/N)'s relief. She had been a bit nervous about flying so much over the span of a couple days. She sighed softly, shaking out her (H/L), (H/C) hair and yawned as she got off. She made her way away from the crowds to stretch before heading over to baggage claim.
Thankfully for her, the airline had not lost her luggage this time. It seemed to be a constant issue for her, so this change of pace made her perk right up. She grinned broadly as she grabbed her bags and headed down to the main entrance of the airport.
"Now, they said someone was going to be here to pick me up," she murmured, scanning the crowds. Soon enough, she spotted her pickup from across the room. She rushed hastily towards them, avoiding bumping into other travelers with ease. When she got a closer look, she noticed who had come to get her.
He was taller than her by a few inches, with black and white hair and steely gray eyes. She smiled softy at the sign he had been holding up for her that read, 'Second class Investigator, (Y/N) (L/N), welcome to Japan!' He had a somewhat perplexed expression, eyes frantically scanning the crowd. How he had not spotted her coming towards him, she'll never know.
She turned her gaze to him and spoke, "Hello! I do believe I am the person you are looking for!" The man jumped a little, turning his gaze towards her and smiled. "Ah, you must be Investigator (L/N). I am First class Investigator Haise Sasaki. It's nice to meet you." She grinned at his introduction and held out her hand to shake his. "Indeed I am," she replied, noting his cute demeanor now that she was up close and personal, "The pleasure is all mine, sir! I'm very excited to be here."
They soon exited the airport, placing her bags into a car and taking off. "So," Sasaki asked, "I hope you don't mind my asking, but what brings you to Japan?" (Y/N) shrugged a little, turning her attention from the passing scenery and replying, "Well, I've always wanted to travel, you see. I got placed here randomly, not that I mind. I've been trying to study as much as I can to learn as many different languages as possible. I'm still getting the hang of the dialect, but I'm hoping to improve while I'm here."
Sasaki nodded, thinking over her answer carefully. "Well, that makes sense to me," he finally said after a moment. She grinned a little, asking a question of her own, "So, it's been gnawing at me for the last week or so since I got the news that I would be joining you guys over here, but what exactly is the Quinx Squad? They never sent me any information about it."
"That would probably be better if the doctors answered your question. We need to head there right away, anyways, so I'm sure the doctor will be able to explain it all better than I can," he replied honestly, "To tell you the truth, it's a relatively new concept the CCG has been working on." She tilted her head, accepting his answer. "That makes sense to me," she said teasingly, making the duo-colored man chuckle as she used his own words against him.
"I'm sure we'll get along just fine, (L/N)," he said, smiling softly. Her heart skipped a beat as her eyes widened a little at him. "Yeah, I'm sure we will," she replied, twirling a lock of (H/C) hair around her finger shyly. This guy was gonna be bad news for her. She could just tell.
Soon enough, they got to the hospital that the CCG used for the Quinx project. After they parked, they went inside, they checked in and waited for (Y/N) to be called in. It was silent in the waiting room. Unable to bear it, (Y/N) asked Sasaki, "So, am I the first person you've met for this squad, or have you met the others? I can't possibly be the only one that signed on for this."
Sasaki chuckled a little, before replying, "No, I already met the others in this squad. There are four other Quinx squad members, besides you. I'm actually the one overseeing it, so it wouldn't be very responsible if I hadn't met them, yet. Actually, they're on the same schedule as you are, (L/N)" She smiled widely, relief washing over her.
"That's fantastic to hear," she said, excitement lacing her tone, "It's always better to work in groups, after all!" The man smiled, her excitement somewhat contagious. "Let's all take care of each other from now on," he replied as the receptionist called out (Y/N)'s name.
"(Y/N) (L/N), the doctor will see you, now," she said cheerily, before returning to her work on the computer situated in front of her. (Y/N) shot up, waiting for Sasaki to lead her to the room that the doctor was in. Once they reached the room, Sasaki said, "Well, this is where we part ways for now, (L/N). I will see you once your assessment with the doctor is finished!"
She grinned in response, asking teasingly, "Aww, are you sure you don't wanna come in with me? You seem so... Parental, after all." This made the man blush brightly, his hands waving in front of him. "Ah, n-no! They need you to get changed into a gown for your assessment, so," he trailed off, his eyes looking everywhere but at her. She laughed, rubbing away fake tears. "Relax, Sasaki, I'm just messing with you," she said between laughs, "I'm a big girl. I can handle this much by myself." Sasaki threw a playful glare her way, which she retaliated to by sticking out her tongue.
After she finished picking on her superior, she stepped into the room and called out before closing the door, " See you in a bit, Sasaki!" He shook his head, smiling a little to himself. "What am I going to do with that girl," he mumbled, touching his chin and making his way back to the waiting room.
She quickly changed into her medical gown before waiting for the doctor to come in. She knew the drill with assessments and examinations, so she waited patiently. A few moments later, an older man with glasses and a mustache came in. "(Y/N) (L/N), correct," he asked the girl, who nodded in response. His tone was professional, yet it still had a somewhat friendly undertone. She was thankful for that much, at least. All the doctors she had seen previously were usually burnt out from being assigned too many patients, or simply didn't care to discuss any important, underlying issues whatsoever.
"It says here that you got the highest score for the assessment in your branch. Impressive," he said, flipping through her medical file that had gotten shipped over. "Now, let's begin with the explanation of what a Quinx is," he said, turning his attention to her.
Time skip because I don't really feel like explaining this. You know what it is. :P
(Y/N) sat in shock, her mouth agape and her (E/C) eyes widened. "Miss (L/N)," the doctor asked softly, "Are you alright?" Slowly but surely, her mouth contorted into an excited grin. "This is going to be so cool," she said, trying not to let her excitement overwhelm her. She ran a hand through her hair, calming down a little.
The doctor breathed a sigh of relief, before continuing, "Now, all that's left is assigning you a kagune type. I believe that, since you have a (B/T) frame, a (K/T) kagune would suit you the most effectively." She once again nodded and replied, "I trust your judgement, doctor. When will I have the operation, if you don't mind me asking?"
The doctor looked at her grimly, before saying, "As soon as possible would be preferred. Two days from now is when the other Quinxes will be getting their operations done. I would highly recommend doing the same." She took a moment to think, before making her decision.
"Two days from now, it is!"
A/N: I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! I'm going to be trying to update once a week, if I can! ^_^
