A/N: Surprise! I felt bad about leaving you all hanging with that last chapter, and I can't sleep anyways, so here's another one for you~
After the doctor left her examination room, (Y/N) changed back into her clothes hastily, and exited the room, herself. She, unfortunately, collided with another person. Falling back on her butt, she exclaimed in embarrassment, "Oh my gosh I am so sorry! I should have been more careful leaving the room. Are you alright?!" She swiftly got up and bowed apologetically, hearing a scoff in return.
She looked up to see a boy around her age, an undercut adorning his sharp features. He had two moles under one of his eyes, and a scowl on his somewhat intimidating face. She swallowed hard and stood back up. "I'm really sorry," she said, scratching the back of her head and offering a friendly smile to possibly placate the obviously irate man, "I'm such a klutz!"
"Tch, whatever. It's fine, already," the boy scoffed, making her eyebrows furrow in confusion. (Y/N) always made it a point to be polite- occasionally to the extreme, but she had never encountered someone so grumpy in her life! "A-Ah, I see," she stammered, still looking confused. The man glared at her, his scowl deepening. "Is there something on my face," he asked curtly, his eyes narrowing at her and making her feel somewhat put on the spot. At this point, she had had enough.
"Yeah, actually," she responded, her demeanor relaxing a little, "It seems you have a shitty expression on your face, now that you mention it." Her response startled him a little, and just as he was about to retaliate, she turned on her heel and walked away. "Maybe you should work on that poor attitude of yours. You might make some more friends, that way... Maybe," she called over her shoulder, shaking her head as she walked and feeling his gaze glaring daggers into her back.
She reached the waiting room with no trouble, seeing Haise reading a book in one of the chairs. "Alrighty, Sasaki. I think I have everything finished up, here," she said, a little more chipper than usual. Sasaki cocked an eyebrow, noticing the change in demeanor. "(L/N)... Did something happen," he asked, concern lacing his tone. Her smile twitched a little bit, and she replied, "Not a whole lot, sir. Just had a run-in with a particularly rude individual. Manners are important, ya know?" Sasaki tensed for a moment, suspecting that he knew of the individual she had been talking about.
"We need to wait here for a few more minutes," Sasaki stated, a smile gracing his features as (Y/N) mentally took a photograph of his innocent face, "Your future squad mates will be done, soon." She nodded in response, taking a seat next to her superior. "So, what are my squad mates like, anyways," she asked, turning her attention back to the duo-toned male. "Well, they're definitely something," he replied, chuckling a little bit. She nodded a little, turning her attention towards the doorway.
One by one, the aforementioned squad mates filed into the waiting room. First, there was a boy again around her age, with bright orange hair and sharp looking teeth. Then, there was another boy with delicate features, and green hair. Then came a short looking girl, her hair tied back into two cobalt blue pigtails and a gaming system in her small hands. Last but not least, it was the rude boy that had run into (Y/N), earlier. Their gazes met and instantaneously turned into glares.
"Looks like we meet again, rude boy," (Y/N) said casually, making the orange haired boy cackle a little. The two others looked on, not really interested in the squabble that was brewing. The rude boy in question simply scoffed, turning his sharp gaze elsewhere. Sasaki frowned a little, and spoke up, "None of that, you two. I won't have fighting in this squad. Now, for introductions. Everyone, this is Second Class Investigator, (Y/N) (L/N). She's come a long way to be here, and will be part of our squad from here on out." He then motioned to each of the others.
