(Y/n) cried a series of complaints to her brother that was roughly pulling her down the ship's halls. "Ow! Would you let go already!" Kidd didn't say anything, instead, he busted opened the door to the sickbay and practically threw her in. The doctor jumped at the sudden outburst and stood up immediately.
"S-sir!" He stuttered, "What can I help you with?"
"I need you to leave the room. Don't say anything, just leave," He was about to question to why he was being kicked out but when he saw (Y/n) being held in his captain's tight grip he didn't need any other explanation and left.
"On the bed." He ordered, (Y/n) sighed but did as she was told, "Turn around and lift your shirt," She settled down on the bed and pulled the backside of her shirt lifting it over the head. When she moved her shirt out of the way, slightly red-stained bandages were revealed.
Kidd grabbed a pair of scissors he began to cut them away, (Y/n) slumped her shoulder in relief as they fell loosely behind her. Setting the scissors aside Kidd's fingers hesitantly ghosted over the different scars that were on her back. They slightly protruded upward, some overlapped and crossed one another and although all of them deeply carved into her skin, none of them would be more visible than the thing that would gain her the most attention, the brand of a slave in which she bore.
"How?" He muttered, "How did you escape?"
"I ran," She responded.
"Of course you did," he scoffed, "But how?"
"It's complicated...I don't wanna talk about it..."
"You've been gone for years!" He bellowed, "You're gonna have to tell me whether you like it or not!"
(Y/n) was silent at first, scared that if she told him what had happened he would think of her differently. But this was her brother, she thought that he would be able to understand what she had to do to escape, right? Before she could open her mouth to say anything a knock was heard at the door. The two stare at it wearily for the longest of time. When nothing else was heard they relaxed and thought that it was just their imagination but panicked when the door was suddenly opened. Struggling to put back her shirt on (Y/n) nearly fell off the bed. Tears pricked her eyes in fear and cursed at herself,
"Dammit! Why can't I-!" She was then quickly wrapped in a blanket and was pulled into Kidd's lap with his strong arms.
"Don't move," he whispered, the door swung opened revealing Heat. "Dammit man, enter when you are told to!" Kidd chided, Heat bowed in apology.
"Killer ordered me to tell you that dinner is ready and that we're having it on the deck tonight instead of indoors," he informed.
"I'll be there in a minute, you're dismissed." Heat bowed again and left without another word. Kidd relaxed and stared down at (Y/n) who had tears streaming down her face. Her trembling hand clutched tight near her body.
"The hell are you crying about?" He said rather harshly.
"I'm sorry..." she muttered, "I'm sorry that you have to deal with someone like me..."
"You're my sister, it's my job to deal with you, even though you annoy me with your crying."
(Y/n) looked up to her brother, "Kidd...am I a monster?" she suddenly asked, "Would you still think of me as your sister after all of the things I did?"
Something stirred inside his stomach, what did she mean by the things she did? But nonetheless he answered back, "Of course I would, You still think of me as your brother even after all the people I killed," (Y/n) laughed bitterly at his comment then sniffled and cleared her throat.
"I'm kinda hungry, wanna head out?" she nudged her head towards the door.
"Let me clean your wounds and redo your bandages then we could head out."
Kidd did as he said then gingerly grabbed her hand and guided her through the ship's halls. Kidd stopped at the entrance to the deck before turning around and placed his heavy fur coat on his sister's small shoulders.
"It's cold out," was all that he said before opening the door and was greeted by a gust of wind with the smell of booze and the loud clamoring.
Kidd walked ahead leaving (y/n) by herself. She tugged the coat closer to her body and scanned the area for a certain crew member. Through the crowd of people, she managed to spot the dark hood of Wire and began to walk towards him. She tried her best to dodge the rowdy men in hopes that she wouldn't be in the same situation she was this afternoon.
After she successfully maneuvered her way through the crowed she tapped the shoulder of the hooded figure who lazily turned around, uninterested in meeting the person that interrupted his peace, but smiled warmly when he saw the shy demeanor of (y/n).
'Hi!' she signed with her hands, 'This spot taken?' he shook his head and patted the spot beside him. Happily taking the spot, they began their silent conversation while enjoying the meal that was set before them. Across the ship's deck, Kidd plopped himself down and groaned tiredly. He began to collect food onto his plate and when he was satisfied with his amount he ate lazily in solace. Killer soon joined him and filled his plate as well. Neither captains spoke anything as they watched their crew merrily sing Blink's Brew. Many of them grabbed another or more as they sang along to the old sea song. Smiles plastered on every one of them, even Kidd's lips gently tugged upward as he saw his little sister receiving a piggyback ride by Wire giggling giddily.
"It's been a while since I saw that smile," he thought, "It's good to see her like that," the song ended and everyone cheered. Wire set (y/n) down to the floor and she hugged him for the small ride. Dinner ended after a few hours or so and nearly everyone retreated inside to retire for the night. Heat and Wire lingered out on the deck for a bit to help clean up.
After the final tarp was folded Heat spoke out loud for his mute companion to hear, "Have you seen (y/n) around? I haven't seen her at all at dinner," Wire nudged his head at the curling figure that leaned on the ship's railing wrapped in Kidd's heavy coat. Heat hummed and asked Wire what they should do, to which he just shrugged for he was also confused on what to with her.
Even though she was Kidd's sister and the only female crew member on the ship she never had a room of her own.
"Should we just bring her with us?" another shrug was given by Wire.
"We might as well," he signed, "I don't think the captains are in the mood for anyone to bother them," Heat nodded in agreement and carefully picked up the girl. The two men then walked indoors and to their shared quarters and placed her down on a makeshift bed they made out of blankets. After she was settled, they crawled into their own beds.
Wire fell asleep instantly after a few minutes while Heat, on the other hand, stayed awake staring at the peaceful look of (Y/n).
"When can you tell us where you've been these past years...I hope you take off that mask you wear every day ever since you rejoined us...I kinda miss the old you...I hope that the real you will come back to us soon..." He finally thought before falling into a slumber himself
