The Burning Photo...

Kidd woke up with a groan. The sunlight had hit his eyes, making him immediately pull the covers over his head. When he realized that he couldn't fall back asleep, he grumbling again. Grabbing his coat off the floor, he headed out of his room, not caring about today's morning hygiene. As everyone greeted him, he waved them off while heading to the dining hall. He joined the table exclusive to only him and those who have his utmost trust. (Y/N), Killer, Heat, and Wire greeted him. Kidd grunted back in return, taking his first bite of the food laid in front of him.

"I heard we're docking soon. Is that true?" Asked his sister.

"Yeah, in a few hours or so." Responded Killer.

"Can I go on the island?"

"Well, that depends. We're drawing straws to see who gets to go off the ship and restock the supplies this time."

"Hope I get it this time," Heat muttered. "I need a change of scenery." Wire nodded in agreement.

"(Y/n), don't you need to check with the doctor again about your back?" Kidd asked.

"Yeah, He said to meet up with him after breakfast, though." Kidd hummed.

in response; after that, it turned back to just them eating their food.

"Alright, everybody, gather 'round!" Ordered Kidd, "Pick your lot and shit." One by one, each crewmember drew straws. Wire and Heat draw their straws but ended groaning at the sight of the non-painted tip.

"What did you guys get?" (Y/n) asked them, to which both of them shaking their heads. "Damn, that sucks. Wanna trade with me?" They were glad that she offered to trade places, but both declined her offer.

"If one of us is going somewhere, then the other follows. Don't worry about us. I heard we're staying here for a few more days for the log pose to set, so we'll go tomorrow, alright?"

"Ok, if you say so... I'll bring you guys back something, ok?" They both smiled and waved her off when their captain called them over to hurry up.

When they were out of sight, they sighed. The thought of another day on the ship being bored out of their mind had killed them.

"Killer said to clean the ship too." Heat mentioned. Wire let out a groan before following his colleague after giving the order to the other crewmen for their afternoon chore. They were going to clean their room first as there was no way they were going to be stuck swabbing the deck under the blazing sun of the afternoon. They brought over the cleaning supplies and began their chore. They dusted the shelves, swept, then mopped the floor, and after that, they rearranged their closet and picked out which clothes were going to the wash. All Wire had were his other cloaks, a couple of mesh shirts and legging and extra shorts. Heat, on the other hand, conquered most of the closet with his corsets, baggy pants, and boots. "I really need to get rid of some of these. They don't even fit me anymore!" He complained.

'Why not give them to (Y/n)?' Wire signed.

"I would, but none of my clothes seem to compliment her style."

'It's worth a shot. There's no harm in asking.'

"I guess that's true." He folded one of the corsets that didn't fit him and set them aside. After cleaning out the whole closet, they put everything back into place. They rested after that and let out a sigh of relief. Everything was perfectly cleaned and organized. A few more minutes had passed, and they were about to gather their dirty laundry, but something had fallen onto the floor. The hard clatter made them both stop in their tracks and pick up the small thing.

"What is it?" Heat questioned. Wire was the one that had picked up the small piece of plastic. It was some sort of case. Wire flipped it over and saw the faded words on the yellow tape.

"Don't Forget."

Opening the box, he saw something that pulled his lips into a small smirk. Curious about what caused his hooded friend to make such an expression, he went by his side and saw a small picture of the original five when they were younger. Wire had his face close up and cut off at the corner from being the one to take the picture. Kidd and Killer were holding their first-ever flag on each end. Heat, was at the other corner with a curious look, and (Y/n) was in-between the captains holding up peace signs. Setting down their laundry on their beds, they decided to go through the photos and felt nostalgia rush through their heads.

"Man, how could I ever forget these moments? It's been a minute, hasn't it?" Heat combed his shaggy hair with his fingers before ruffling them. They spread out the photos all over the floor and chatting about the forgotten stories from long ago. "Remember how Kidd felt after we took this one? Man, he nearly killed us if it weren't for Killer and (Y/n)" Wire chuckled along with him and picked up another photo. However, this one caused him to pause his smile. Noticing him, Heat asked him what was wrong. He shook his head to break out of his trance and handed him the picture. When Heat looked at it, it gave him the same effect. A bittersweet moment, but still a memorable one.

"This is when we first join, huh?" Wire nodded and leaned back on the side of his bed, causing another hum from Wire. "Do you remember that day? It was so long, but it felt like yesterday, huh?" Wire took another look at the picture, and he too remembered it vividly as well.

Down in between his thumb and index was a picture of a town burning down.

"Hurry up and get on!"

"What?"

"You said you'd help us become pirate kings! So, get your ass on the boat now!"

"We're leaving you stranded here if you don't make your choice now!"

"Fine, We're in!"
