When Jason Newsted asked you out on a date, you had no idea what to say

When Jason Newsted asked you out on a date, you had no idea what to say. Jason was a quiet kid who you really never had much to do with, you would even have described him as a nerd. Perhaps not a loser, but not someone you would want to be seen with. You were the complete opposite of him - popular, with a wide circle of friends from across the school. You would easily admit that your standing in school was important to you, and upkeeping your reputation was like second nature.

When Jason spoke to you, you immediately wondered how it would affect your image. Could you be seen speaking to him? Even though he'd recently begun hanging out with some popular kids like James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, you felt like hanging out with him was going to hurt your high school popularity. And that was not something you wanted to risk.

"Hey, (Y/N), what are you doing Friday night?" He asked politely. He seemed very genuine, and not at all scared to speak to you. Sometimes you found certain boys avoided you because they thought you would shut them down immediately.

"I don't know," You muttered, still shoving books into your overcrowded locker as you avoided making eye contact. You had no idea what to do in the moment.

"Well... if you're free, I'd like to take you out on a date," Jason said, trying ever so hard to catch your eye.

"A date?" You turned to face him, rather shocked by how forward he was.

"Yeah, I want to get to know you,"

You had no idea how to answer. You were almost a little impressed by how comfortable he felt asking you on a date.

"Okay, I guess that would be okay," you shrugged, trying to pretend you weren't intrigued by his offer. You didn't want to seem like a bitch, and if the date was bad no one would have to know about it. Jason smiled at you, content with himself and your answer, before making his way down the school halls.

This short encounter had made you totally reevaluate how you saw Jason Newsted. You thought he must have been a quiet, nerdy kid. But the way he carried himself and his confidence when he spoke had made you think different. You were actually eager to see how the date would pan out now, with no expectations to go off of.

You never expected Jason to turn up how he did to pick you up on Friday night. While you had gone for a simple denim skirt and blouse, he was wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses - looking like a completely different person. He'd even had a haircut, the sides of his head shaved. Without thinking, you reached out and felt the shaven side of his head as he stood on your doorstep. He laughed.

"Sorry, I- you look so different!" You blurted, springing your hand back to your side. You were even blushing!

"Gotta get a little dressed up for a date, don't i?" Jason smirked, offering his hand. You placed your hand delicately on his, and he clasped it carefully before leading you to your ride.

Jason took you out in his truck, and you had dinner at a quiet diner. It was nice to be somewhere out of the way, hidden. You were used to guys from school taking you to wild parties, crowded with people. It was nice to spend time away from prying eyes.

The meal was nothing special, but somehow you were drawn to Jason after seeing him outside of school. In school he was... cute, but on this date he was different. It was like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders.

After dinner, Jason took you to a lookout point and you both sat in the back of his truck. He was very prepared, he'd brought cushions and everything. At first you were worried that Jason thought he was going to get lucky on the first date, but he couldn't have been sweeter. You watched the stars, stared at the skyline and talked until you couldn't think of anything else to say.

"(Y/N)?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you have a good time tonight?"

"Jason, I've had the best time. This was a wonderful night,"

Jason grinned, and turned his head toward the floor. He was glad it was nighttime so you wouldn't see him blushing madly.

He glanced back at you, and leaned in slowly for a kiss. You had been waiting almost the entire night for this. He kissed you softly and lovingly, and you wrapped your arms around his neck.

Jason pulled away, your faces so close that his nose bumped yours. "So, a second date?"

"Mmhmm," you mumbled, immediately going back in for another kiss. You never wanted this night to end.
