Shadow took us to another place, of course, the journey was obviously going to be long and confusing. I swear even he took half a dozen wrong turnings. And who was this dude? Like, the deputy head here or something? I noticed that a lot of people looked at him in both awe and fear. Those were all blood-thirsty people, I can tell you, they seem to all be eyeing the faint white scar that he had on his brow. They looked tough, but in their eyes lurked something that you would only see in a doe's eye when it was about to be shot.
At last, we reached a room that resembles somewhat like a meeting room, or maybe a classroom. You know those American college classes? It was a bit like those. I think the use of it was quiet plain too: No guns to be seen, no javelins, no fighting mats, no beds. *Sarcastic* It might just be a normal classroom! He began:"Right, so, if you want to live in this place, you should probably know the rules-"
" Listen." A voice abruptly cut through his speech. All of our heads turned to the source of the voice. It was the cute looking girl, leaning against the wall. She paused." Can you hear a rumbling orchestra? Cos I sure can." I was impressed at her bravery, and Shadow seemed momentarily shocked too. " We've been away from home for what, like two days? "
" A day and twenty hours, forty one minutes." Corrected Panther.
"Yeah yeah, whatever." She looked mildly annoyed at Panther for interrupting. " Look, you took us here, and we've been stuck in this place for ages, going without anything to eat. We've shared out the little water that we had on each of us out on the journey here. So if you don't mind, we would like some food please."
Shadow looked amused. He grinned and, ignoring the nearly fainting Mia, he said" Sure. We might as well. We can have our lesson whilst eating. What harm would it do?" He patted the girl's shoulder as he walked past her. The girl squirmed with distaste.
And so, we again trudged along the long winded corridors, with the hope of good food keeping us from lying down and screaming, we finally arrived at the so called dinning hall. And here, my faithful readers, is where it starts to get downhill for some of the others.
We got to this weird looking machine thing, you know those airport security things that you have to put your luggage through? It's a bit like those. " Um... Exactly what are we looking at right now?" I asked. He looked at me as if I'm stupid. Who's stupid? Me? You must be joking. I mean, who would know what this block is? "It's the dinner maker of course!" He said. (CS: I'm so sorry about the lame language, like, my brain is basically dead right now. I can't even think of a better thing to say.)
We stared at him like he's a lunatic. Which, by now, I really feel that he is one. " What? I'm not joking, it's really the dinner maker. Remember those vouchers that I gave you earlier? You insert them here." He tapped a slot on the side of the machine, hidden away from view. " And your food comes out on a tray and voila, your dinner's ready!"
Not sure what to make of this new information, I tentatively slotted my voucher in. A few buttons suddenly lit up on the machine. I chose the ones saying chicken and potatoes with gravy, orange jelly, and orange juice. Why not? I had a thing for oranges. Wait, there's a new button asking if I want it hot or cold? Ew, who drinks HOT orange juice? There was a whirring sound as the mechanisms started to work. The flat thingie started to move and I saw a tray coming out, just as he had said, and on it there were a plate with my main course on it and a cup with the jelly and another with my orange juice. I felt it. Good, nice and cold.
I held the tray and got to an empty table, and motioned my new friends to come. Well, I guess we're friends now. They did and slotted their vouchers into the other machines. They came over and sat by me. I noticed that the cute girl took an empty table alone, and when another one came and sat next to her, she immediately got up and moved away, leaving the girl sitting there, looking perplexed and offended, as if someone had just told her that she stunk. Which, she kinda did. To be fair, that wasn't her fault, I did too. I was about to take a shower when they came in and now it's currently five days since I had a shower and I was sweating after I fought those three. So, I feel like I have this waft of smell coming off me right now. Plus I haven't changed for three days.
Shrugging, I continued cutting up my chicken. Oh it tastes soooo nice! And the gravy, ( Sorry those who don't like gravy.) it's the best that I've ever tasted. There were a lot of food on my plate as well, so even though I've been starving, I'm feeling a bit full now as well. Then, out the corner of my eye, I saw that what some of the others had. I couldn't help but notice since they were eyeing it so distastefully. Oat porridge. The worst kind that you can get, beside it there were something suspicious looking. Luckily, they've still got the syrup. That wasn't too bad.
They were mainly the girls who got an i on their vouchers, I noticed. The ones who got 'b's, or even Giza, who got a 'c' was eating pretty well. She didn't have much, but the noodles still looked promising. Judging by how she's wolfing it down, it probably taste nice as well.
"How come we get such a different treatment?" Demanded a girl who I recognized to be Ida from earlier. I was quiet expectant as well. It's not like I'm an ungrateful child, it's just that I wanted to know why that we were treated so differently.
Shadow smirked. He slotted his voucher in and what came out was not only a meal much better than mine, the plate's design was somewhat different to ours as well. The material looked shiny... like it was silver. " There's a system here. So you'd all know." A couple of us rolled our eyes. " For example, these lunch vouchers. You get different level of vouchers due to your status, your achievement, and your importance in the group. The level 'i' s," He pointed to Ida's dinner." Are privileges." Ida snorted.
" Privileges?"She asked. Shadow nodded grimly. " Privileges. You might not like what you have now, but level i stands for level initiated. Wait for what you get after your initiation finishes. Which, for some of you, perhaps is never. Because you might get a level E."
Another group of people came in, giving us company in this dining hall, where, before they came in, only held us. They looked grim, like they were on the edge of tears.Which, they probably were. They had vouchers with a big, black E printed on the front. Their dinner looked very nice, even nicer that Shadow's.
" Why?" Heath asked. " Their food looks a lot nicer than ours.
" Yes, but they're level E, and that made all the difference." Shadow whispered. " Level E stands for, for level End." His voice cracked and to my surprise, he seem to have a hint of redness around his eyes but when I looked again he was back to normal. It might've been an illusion.
" Just like it's name, if you're level E, then you're done for. That meal would be your last, probably. Though in some conditions, not necessarily." He regained his posture.
I felt a twinge of guilt as I saw the divergent people from the DT room. They were in the line of the Level Es. It was probably my fault that they ended up there. Suddenly, they dropped their plates on the table and strode towards me. Startled, I remained where I was, just sitting there, watching in horror as they preceded towards me.
Six crabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me up from my seat when-
To be continued...
MWAHAHAHA I feel so evil right now. Sorry for the late update guyz, I've had a very busy week and I hardly got anytime to write this. I had to squeez it all in, but I guess it'd be better if I just saved the rest for next week. Until then, see ya folks! Don't forget to vote, comment, and save!
Oh, 1 more thing, I need some fresh ideas. Comment to give me an idea for their first mission and how maybe it could go horribly wrong! ;D
