Promise

Chapter 2

Rose slowly opened her eyes. She got up groggily. 'What happened?' She wondered. The door to her room opened quietly and slowly. Rose turned to see who it was.

Smiling gently, Nick asked her, "How are you feeling?" There was a cautious look in his eyes. As if he was waiting for her to bite his head off.

"I'm alright. My head hurts though." She answered rubbing her head. She looked at him confused. "What happened?"

Nick hesitated but then sighed tiredly. He sat down on the side of her bed. Looking at her sympathetically, he began to explain what happened.

"Rose... Eli and Kol are back. You seemed really stressed when you came in. And you were running a slight fever. My guess is, the fever and stress mixed in with the shock of seeing them again overloaded you and you passed out. Not to mention you hadn't eaten that much today" Nick's eyed her.

"That makes sense." Rose murmured. "My vision's been weird all day and I've been feeling dizzy so I guess that explains that." Her eyes lightened as the memories flashed back to her. The nightmare, the music video acceptance, seeing the man... "Oh my goodness!" Rose exclaimed frightfully. Nick jumped and glanced at her questioningly. Before Rose could explain, the door slammed open.

"Rosy!" Kol sang out. Nick closed his eyes in annoyance. Rose's eyes once frightened became hard and cold. Eli trailed behind him gazing at her coolly. He held a tray of food with him.

"What are you doing here?" Rose asked emotionlessly.

Kol, Eli, and Nick winced at her tone. Kol's eyes dimmed at the tone she used with him. It both saddened and motivated him. He was back. He was going to make everything right and reestablish his relationship with Rose.

"Rosy." Kol whined childishly. "Why so cold? We're just worried about your health. The doctor said you hadn't had any food in you for a while. Is Nick not feeding you?" Kol's voice changed, turning softer. "You know how much I worry about your well-being."

Both Rose and Kol knew the double-meaning behind those words. Words they never repeated. Sworn to secrecy. Rose and Kol had a stare-off. Rose broke it off.

"You left me." Kol cringed as did Eli. "You have no right to be worried." Rose then turned to Nick. "What doctor? How long was I out?"

"You were out for a couple hours. We got worried and called a doctor. He said to give you some food and rest and you'd be fine. It seems like you're better now." Nick answered. Then his tone turned serious. "Eli, Kol. You two should stay for a while. Something's scaring Rose." The two brothers looked at Nick and then at Rose concerned.

Just then, Rose's phone rang. She reached for it. It was a text from a blocked number. She opened it. 'Say a word about me and I kill your friend from this afternoon.' Fear seized her heart. Rose looked at her brothers who were watching her. She hesitantly smiled at Nick and shook her head.

"I'm fine. Anyways, it's like 8 o'clock. Get out of my room all of you." Her brothers looked at her confused and suspicious. "I need to change. I'm going to the club with Simon." Understanding dawned upon them.

Nick got up from the bed as Eli put the tray of food on her nightstand. "Please eat Rose." He murmured softly.

Nick walked to the door but then looked back. "Why are you going to the club anyways?" he asked.

Rose's face lit up as she forgot to tell Nick the good news. She quickly jumped up from her bed, surprising her family. "Nick! OMG! I forgot to tell you! You know that audition Simon and I went to? The one for the music video choreographers?" Nick thought back for a second then nodded his head.
