When Rose woke up in the morning, her head pounded. She rubbed her head and looked over to her nightstand. There was some Tylenol and a glass of water along with a note. Rose took the medicine first and read the note after.

Rose,

Come downstairs once you’ve freshened up and had the medicine. We need to discuss you coming home at 2:30 in the morning drunk. Also, we have your phone. We’ve got some questions about what the hell we saw on it. You don’t have anything scheduled today. Your friend, Simon, called and left a message that you have the day off.

Eli

Rose sighed. ‘Only Eli’ She walked into the restroom and began to take a shower.

Rose came downstairs and saw her brothers around the island in the kitchen. “Good morning.” She sighed.

Her brothers stopped talking and looked at her. There was something of about their expression.

“What?” Rose laughed nervously. “Is something wrong?”

“Rose.” Nick started, “what the hell is this?” He held up her phone and the text from the stranger was shown. Panic filled Rose.

“Oh that?” She moved to the refrigerator. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.” She turned around to find her brothers glaring at her.

“Don’t lie to use Rose.” Kol growled. “You said last night- when you were drunk might I add- that the man from your dream exists. Who the hell are you talking about?”

Rage filled Rose. “You have no right to talk. Whatever goes on in my life is of no concern to you.” A look of hurt flashed on Kol’s face. “Not anymore.”

“Fine. You don’t want to talk to Kol? Then talk to me.” Nick said. “Tell me what’s going on. What goes on in your life is of concern to me at least. So tell me.”

Tears of frustration pooled in her eyes. “Did you not read that text? I can’t tell you or he’ll kill Simon! What, did you not read that part of the text?”

Nick sighed and walked up to Rose. He placed his hands on Rose’s arms and stared intensely into her eyes. “Rose, we did read that. But you got another text this morning.” Nick handed Rose her phone.

Don’t worry about that bastard. He’s been taken care of. He won’t hurt your friend. -Anonymous

Rose scoffed. “Oh yeah, that makes me feel so much better. ‘Taken care of’? What is that supposed to mean? Jail? Blackmailed into staying away? Well, I don’t know about you, but ‘taken care of’ sounds a hell of a lot like murder to me.”

Eli groaned in frustration. “Rose! Just tell us what the hell is going on!” he looked at her pleadingly. “Please. We’re worried. You may not consider us your brothers, but we still consider you our sister.”

Rose sighed. Hesitantly she glanced at Nick. “Do… do you remember the nightmare I had the night before?” Nick narrowed his eyes and nodded. “The man from my dream… the one who terrified me… He’s um, real. I met him and he’s the one who threatened Simon.”

“Nick. What nightmare is she talking about? Was it serious? Why didn’t you say anything about it?” Eli growled.

Rose laughed nervously. “Eli, it was just a nightmare. How was Nick supposed to know that this was going to happen?”
