with the sound of the much often melody of her alarm clock, adele's eyes peel open only to be met with the ceiling. she was thirty minutes away from an important meeting at her record label, yet she hadn't hesitated to snooze the alarm two or three times. nor had she shown any signs of panic when arriving ten minutes later than scheduled.

scott sanders stood stiff in the lobby, glaring at adele as she approaches, "god forbid you aren't late to something for once."

as the comment left his lips, he'd noticed the dried tears still mingling around her eyes. so instead of spitting out another insult, he simply leads her to the elevators.

"he's nice, i promise." he mentions softly, and adele shakes her head.

"i don't care. this is stupid."

as the two wait for the elevator to rise to the thirty-second floor, he hesitates before speaking. "there's a few press interviews i want you to do for your new release."

she glances over at him, "i'm gonna go see my mom."

"the meeting's are in los angeles."

his words caused her thoughts to halt and all rush to one person instead. she closes her mouth, taking a deep breath and deciding to let the conversation pause for a moment.

while the two walk towards scott's office, adele begins to recognize a familiar boy sitting tall in one of the chairs. though, she knew she had never met him before.

scott pushes the door open, and the boy stands immediately. it was then when she was able to put a name to his face, "adele, this is abel reign. abel, adele."

she goes to shake his hand, unsure of what else to do. she sensed the awkwardness from him as well, thankful she wasn't the only one going through it.

"abel reign!" brandon announces, entering the kitchen with his eyes still scanning his phone screen. "that's his name!"

nick's eyebrows furrow, "who?"

"i don't know." he mutters, "never heard of him in my life."

"one second," zion pulls his phone out, presumably to put his name in instagram. "oh, shit."

"what?" brandon asks, his heart racing, attempting to hold eye contact with at least one of the boys.

"he's hot." edwin gasps, leaning over zion's shoulder.

zion breaks out into a laugh, "looks like you've got competition, b."
