cameras flashed from every angle as adele made her way inside the lobby of her apartment, her hand held with abel's.

watching as she flinched with every flash, the man offers a hand to cover her eyes from the cameras, ushering her inside. after that, neither said a word until they reached her loft.

"thank you." she says, handing him a bottle of water. "i've never had so many paparazzi pay attention to me."

"you're famous now, remember?" he offers a smile, gladly taking a sip from the bottle.

a text from scott had distracted her from responding to his comment. he lets out a small sigh, "well, i should probably head out."

"you're leaving?" she asks, confused. "i thought you weren't supposed to."

"i'm not supposed to leave out the main lobby." he corrects, "but when we were walking towards the elevators, i saw another way out."

"you're eager to leave." she teases, sitting down on her couch. "got somewhere to be on this new years eve?"

"well..if you must know," she sits straighter up, nodding. "there's this girl.."

her eyes widen, "oh!"

"we've been seeing each other since august. and she wasn't really on board with the whole publicity stunt. i'm making it up to her tonight, though."

"well," she smiles at him. "you go do that."

he nods, waving goodbye to her as he makes his way out. but before he does, he pauses. "what are your plans, adele?"

she didn't expect the question to arise, as she sits back. "um..i've got stuff."

"stuff?"

"yeah." she shrugs.

he gives her an odd look, "well, as long as you aren't sitting alone just dwelling, i'm good."

"you really do think i'm lame, don't you?" she scoffs, and he lets out a laugh.

"see you tomorrow, adele."

she gives him one last smile before he closes the door behind him, leaving her by her lonesome.

she lets out a sigh, relaxing her muscles as she sits back on the couch. of course she had no plans.

her only friend, which happened to be her assistant, was with her own friends, partying on some rooftop.

adele didn't mind spending the holiday alone, sitting back in her king-sized bed and catching up on episodes of the kardashian's.

but as she watched everyone's instagram stories, she began feeling lonely. her loft began to feel too big for just the small girl, and her insecurities started to catch up to her.

she overthought all of her friendships, coming to a realization that abel could've just made the excuse up to get away from her.

her mind wandered to her relationship with jaden, wondering if there was something she really had done wrong.

and by thirty minutes til midnight, she'd torn herself completely apart, curled up in her bed. she'd taunted herself enough to tear herself apart in a matter of minutes.

she takes a deep breath, sitting up. before she could stand, she received a text.
