"according to an insider, brandon hadn't known adele prior to the hookup." the woman states, her eyes trained on the camera. "he said he'd only been there to meet with a family member—"

adele, who'd been sitting on the other side of the screen, felt as if the woman had been staring into her soul. her grip tightened around the phone, feeling her chest tighten.

"see? he's bad news." scott says, his arms crossed as he stood in front of the girl.

she glances up at him, her expression empty. "why did you show me this?"

"so you can stop moping over this..nobody!" he exclaims, following his client as she stood from her couch and sauntered towards the kitchen. "you've messed up, adele. i forgave you.. now we need to get things going."

she zones out for a moment, feeling the strings in her heart getting tired of constantly pulling. she just wanted to relax, yet everything around her constantly kept her on her feet.

"nobody wants to see me." she replies, shaking her head. "nobody gives a shit about me, scott."

"so many people care about you, adele." he sympathizes, "you just need to get yourself in the clear, and people will be on your side again."

"and how do i do that?" she asks him, her voice sharpening. "admit that the relationship was a stunt? drag abel through the dirt for my wrongdoing?"

scott stares at the granite counter, "..every man for themselves in this industry, adele—"

"oh, my god." she cuts off, "no..i'm not doing it."

and after a bit more pestering, scott had been on his way out of the girls loft, leaving her alone once again.

truthfully, she hadn't heard a word he said. all she could feel was the anger building up in her chest. she felt conflicted. she wanted to be mad..she wanted to forget everything about him, starting by her love. but she couldn't. and she knew that.

her line of sight levels with the bottle of wine sitting on her kitchen counter, taking a breath before snatching the bottle.

it was midnight, exactly three hours since scott had left and all the girl had done was get drunk and lay on the floor of her balcony.

she lifts her side up slightly to grab her phone from her hoodie pocket, calling abel. "hello?"

"i need help."

the man had been over almost instantly, and adele immediately sensed something off about him. "alright, i'm here." he nods, stepping inside. "what do you need?"

"are you okay?" she asks, frowning at him.

his eyes flicker at her question, and they slightly droop lower. "it's fine, i'm good. tell me what's up."

she sighs, slumping her shoulders and leading him to her bedroom. from there, she began to sulk over the boy thousands of miles away from her, including the things he'd apparently told an insider. and by then, abel had lightened up and listened intensely to his friend's dilemmas.

"easy. go see him."

"it's..not that easy." she fusses, shaking her head. "he doesn't want to see me. imagine if i go, and he wouldn't even want me there."

"but i thought he loved you."

"i don't know." she murmurs, hiding her face in her hands. "i feel like..like he's over it. like i'm the only one trying here."

"he's confused, adele." he repeats, a frown tugging on his lips. "and if he doesn't reciprocate it when the time comes, at least you'll know that you tried."

"what if i don't want to know?"

"we both know you do."

"yeah." she admits, and they both crack a smile at each other. however, his dies quicker than hers. "are you okay?"

abel sighs, slowly shaking his head. "my girl broke it off over text."

she couldn't help but let out a gasp of surprise, sitting up slightly. "what? why?"

"i think she felt pressured to break things off." he theorizes, "because of everything going on."

she reaches for his hand, squeezing it with comfort. "love you, abel. and i'm sorry."

he squeezes tighter, offering her a weak smile. "that's why i want you to see him. you'll regret it."

she ignores him, "go see her, love."

"i will. if you see him."
