Kyle->
"Guys, I got us another gig!" It was a couple days after my date with Kyle and we were gathered at his house to practice, as usual, Sam was late, until he burst in with some amazing news.
"That's great!" I exclaim. "Where is it?" Sam grabs his guitar and starts tuning it.
"It's at the new club downtown" , he answers.
"Is it that glow-in-the-dark one everyone has been talking about?" Asks Ethan.
"Yeah", answers Sam. "It is the hottest place to play right now. The spots are filling up like crazy."
"When's the gig?" Says Kyle.
"Tommorow night at eight."
"Is it a youth club?" I ask.
"No just a regular one, we are all almost eighteen anyway", says Sam, "and there's a great party that we can go to afterwards." My smile fades.
"But I'm fifteen", I say. The rest of the band realizes what I just said.
"Shoot", says Sam.
"I'm sure you can pass for eighteen", says Ethan, "we just need to dress you up a bit."
"You guys are going to dress me up?" I ask.
"I'll get my sister to come over to your house before the show" responds Sam.
"Thanks", I say. Sam shrugs it off.
"Well we couldn't go without our lead singer", he answers, smiling. "Then we'd just be a bunch of instruments."
"We better get started on our set list for the show", points out Ethan.
"I think we should start with Sunshine", says Kyle, "it's a really good introduction to our band."
"But what about Road to Paradise?" Says Ethan. "It has that great guitar solo in the middle to showcase all of my skills." Kyle rolls his eyes, and I surpress a laugh. Sometimes my brother can be a bit full of himself.
"Wait", I interrupt, "who's throwing the party?"
"Mark Duffield", answers Sam, "do you know him?" I scowl. Ethan sees my expression and laughs.
"Ember and Mark had a thing back in January", says Ethan.
"A thing?" asks Sam, with a strange look on his face. It almost looks like he is jealous, except why would he be jealous of my thing with Mark? It must be something else, maybe he ate something bad before he came over here. Anything but jealousy, because that just wouldn't make sense.
"Yes", I respond, "a horrible, never to be repeated thing." At that the guys drop the subject and we go back to figuring out the set for the show.
