Thirteen

The rest of the day was great.

Nothing out of the ordinary, I'm kinda sad that Ben wants to take things slow, but I respect his choice.

It was currently lunch and Ben's bio teacher asked him to stay behind.

"So? What happened?" Caity asked.

I smiled, "he wants to take it slow"

"Aww I'm happy for you guys" Caity said, hugging my side.

"What are y'all talking about?" Cora questioned.

"Ben is Dean's boyfriend" Reese teased, like a kindergartener.

"He's not" I countered, "not yet at least"

"Thats great, Dean" Cora said, "but its pretty soon, after..."

"Don't worry about that, we ended things on good terms, we're still great friends" I said.

Soon Cora and Caity were back to gossiping and I was helping Reese with Spanish.

I caught up to Ben after school, "hey, wanna come over and watch a movie or something?"

"Yeah!" He said enthusiastically, "I uh- I mean...yeah I'd like that"

I laughed, opening my car door for him.

We got to my house and my mom was home.

"Hola Ben" she greeted, from the dinning room table.

"Hey Ms H" he said back.

"What're you boys up to?" She asked, looking up from her work.

"Gonna watch a movie" I replied, pulling Ben into the living room.

After trying to decide what to watch for 20 minutes we decided on Spider man.

Half way into the movie the doorbell rang.

Ben's head was on my lap, so he got up to answer it.

I heard faint voices, then Ben stuck his head back into the living room.

"Uh Dean, there's a girl here for you" he said.

I raised a questioning eyebrow at him, then went to the door.

I didn't see who it was but now she was hugging me.

I panicked for a second before I recognized her perfume.

"Peri? What are you doing here?" I asked, excited.

"Visiting my dad" she answered, pulling away from me, "had to see my favorite guy though"

She playfully punched my shoulder, her caramel eyes sparkling.

I smiled at Ben and introduced them, "Peri, this is Ben my... friend, Ben this is Peri... my ex"
