After I told Anna everything that has happened between me and Jack, and then repeated it again just because she asked, we spent the rest of the afternoon eating cookies and talking about boys and school drama.

Obviously, there was an excessive amount of screaming and gasping involved when I was telling her about Jack. At first her eyes were full of surprise and then just pure excitement but I didn't mind at all, because to be honest I was screaming on the inside too.

She also told me how crazy it was that he's paying this much attention to a girl and that its weird hearing me refer to him as Jack when everyone else calls him J. That detail lingered in my head for a while, and i made a mental note to question him about it if i ever get the opportunity... or the courage.

I was sat in my kitchen trying to focus on the magazine I'm reading, clearly not doing a very good job, as my aunt came downstairs probably having just woken up from her nap.

"Hey, has Anna left already?"  Aunt Claire asked.

"Yep, her mum wanted her home for dinner. Are you off to work already?"  I replied. Noticing she was in her green-blue, neat nurse uniform and placing her bag over her shoulder.

"Yeah, i'm so sorry sweetie, I know I've had so many night shifts ever since you've moved in and we haven't had much time together but I can't do much about it this month because the rota has already been set and it's a complete struggle to change anything once it's up. But I'm going to try to be much more flexible next month hopefully." She says and places her hand gently on my arm giving me a 'please don't be mad' face.

I can't help but smile widely at her and tell her it's okay. What she probably doesn't know is that just by showing her concern, she is already doing ten times more than my parents have ever done. And I can't be anything but grateful for that.

She gives me a kiss on the cheek good bye and then shouts "Call me if you need anything!" from the hallway.

"Will do!" I shout back and make my way into my room, swiftly grabbing the book that is currently sat on my desk and doing a superman jump into bed.

************

It was around 10pm when I was suddenly woken up from the slumber that i must have fallen into whilst reading. I noticed my book lying lifelessly on my wooden floor and inferred that my assumption must be correct. Great, now i won't be able to sleep all night because I've had a nap.

As i stretched my body in bed, i heard loud knocking coming from the front door.  I realised that the knocking must have been what woke me up in the first place and from the repetitive rhythm of the knock i could tell that the person was getting impatient. I checked my phone to see the time. 10:22 PM. Who would come over this late?

No missed calls from my auntie signalling she's coming home early, no missed calls or texts from anyone for that matter. Surely, if it was someone i knew, they would just call to let me know they're coming over.

I wanted to call my auntie but i knew its best not to disturb her at work, so i just pulled my off-white coloured duvet closer to me, and listened. Really carefully.

The knocking did not repeat itself and i hoped and prayed that the person, whoever it was, had just left, but i decided to give it another 10 minutes of just listening quietly before going downstairs.

I scanned my room whilst listening out for noise, as if by looking in a particular direction i could make all other noise stop and just focus on sound coming from that area. But that is superhuman shit, and I, unfortunately, do not possess any superhuman qualities. Apart from superhuman flying into my bed of course and superhuman eating without getting superhuman fat.
