(Continuation of title: Almost as much as Christine loves play rehearsal)

HERUCLES' POV

Laff and I got dressed for the party and ran out the door. On the way we didn't talk much. For some reason I felt like Laff was hiding something.

"Hey, are you ok?" I asked when we were almost there.

"Yes, I am, mon ami." He replied, but his tone was slightly wistful.

"If you say so." I replied as we pulled into the driveway.

We walked in and Laff took my hand. I blushed. We walked straight to the bar and ordered our drinks. Since the party was close friends only, we were all drinking and laughing together.

Once we were all thoroughly drunk, we decided to play truth or dare, despite several fake protests from me. Everything was going according to plan. I was nervous, but not as nervous as I would be if I were sober.

"I'll go first!" Yelled Alex over the loud party music.

He ended up daring John to take off his shirt, which made us all roll our eyes.

Next John asked Angelica "truth or dare?"

Angie thought for a moment. "Truth."

"Who in this room would you kiss besides Burr?" He asked, smirking.

She blushed. "Peggy, on the cheek because she's my sister." She replied, invoking BOO's from all of us.

"I mean on the lips, Angie!" John whined.

"Fine, then Thomas." She blushed as I glared at Thomas. I couldn't believe some of the people in our friend group didn't completely despise him.

Next she asked me, "Truth or dare?"

This was it. "Dare." I said nervously.

She laughed drunkenly, and for a moment I was worried she wouldn't stick to the plan.

"I dare you to kiss someone of the same gender." She laughed. We had decided to make it ambiguous to make it seem less suspicious.

I blushed. "Fine."

I turned to Laff, who was sitting next to me and blushing furiously.

I slowly got closer to him, putting my hand in his hair. Even though everyone was watching,  I felt like time had stopped and it was just me and him. He looked at me in the eyes. I leaned forward. Our lips met. I didn't know how long the kiss had been happening, but it seemed like ages. It was amazing. Too bad it was interrupted by--

"Hercules, she said kiss someone of the same gender." Sneered Jefferson from the other side of the room. We broke apart and I glared at him.

"What are you talking about? I'm male, he's male?" I asked. I wished Angie wouldn't invite him to parties, but she did because he was mainly Burr's friend.

"Kiss someone of the same gender." He repeated. "Lafayette's a girl." He drawled. "Pick someone else."

I looked at him, confused. "What are you talking about?" I glanced at Laff and he was on the verge of tears.

Jefferson just smirked at me. Everyone was silent, confused.

I got up and walked quickly to the other side of the room. I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and brought him to his feet.

"What are you talking about, Jefferson?" I spit in his face.

"Lafayette is a woman. He's been lying to you... or should I say she's been lying to you."

I punched him, and everyone gasped. Honestly, I was just as surprised as them. He was pushed against the wall by the force of the punch and lifted his hand to his now bleeding jaw.

"What the hell, man!" He yelled and jumped towards me, grabbing my arm. He twisted it behind my back.

I tried to twist my arm out of his grasp, but he held on tighter. Burr jumped up and pulled him off of me.

I turned to face him and glared at him with unfiltered, seething anger. He glared back, and swung at me but Burr grabbed his arm before his fist could reach me.

I stepped back. Everything seemed to be going in slow motion, I wasn't completely sure what was going on. I couldn't hear, my ears were ringing too loudly. I turned, and saw Laff running outside. I ran after him. He was halfway down the expansive front lawn when I managed to catch up and grab his arm.

He tried to get me to let go, but I held on firmly.

"Please, leave me alone, Hercules. I am disgusting!" He sobbed.

"No you aren't! What is Jefferson talking about? Are you...?" I couldn't finish the sentence because I began crying too.

"I am a woman!" Sobbed Laff, finally wrenching his arm out of my grasp.

"No, you aren't." I said, sniffling, finally understanding most of the situation.

"I-I w-w-was born a w-woman." He corrected quietly, his tears still flowing.

"I don't care." I said gently. "Laff, I... I like you, and learning that you were born a woman changes nothing. I still think you are amazing either way." If I hadn't been drunk, the part about me liking him never would've slipped out.

He looked at me, still crying. "No, you can't. J- Jeffer-"

"Forget about anything that asshole ever said!" I yelled. "If he made you think you're disgusting, then screw him!" I said angrily. "Because you're an amazing person, Laff!"

He looked at me, tears in his eyes. I felt heart broken.

Laff gave me a hug, and I hugged him back. He broke apart, and my heart sank slightly. Then he bent down and kissed me. It was a slow, gentle kiss and it seemed to last an eternity. My heart was beating quickly with excitement, until everything went black.

LAFAYETTE'S POV

I was finally kissing Hercules, the kiss fueled by alcohol and emotions. We broke apart when suddenly he fell forward into my arms.

Merde. I decided to call an uber to take both of us home. When we got back, I felt a bit dizzy like I was going to pass out, but I managed to get Herc and I up the stairs and into our bedroom.

I laid him down, and fell asleep next to him instantly. All night I had dreams about our kiss.

HERCULES' POV

I woke up and realized that, for once, Laff was the one that had his arms wrapped around me. I chuckled softly.

I couldn't completely remember what happened last night. All of it was a blur, but there were three facts that stood out in my mind:

1. I had kissed Laff

2. I had punched Jefferson

3. Jefferson had outed Laff for being transgender

I was excited about the first two facts, and about the last fact, well... it really didn't change anything between us. I was pan, so I loved everyone, regardless of their gender. Meaning I still loved Laff just the same, despite him not loving me back. Unless he did...?

I stayed there, cherishing Laff's embrace until he woke up.

"Good morning, mon ami." He said, smiling at me.

I guess he didn't.
