Jordan^ his eyes are hazel instead of that color
Alicia ^ She kind of looks like Violet no freckles as well
Celaine POV:"Watch where you're going". A voice cuts through my thoughts as I look up at this scary yet equally good-looking guy. He has sharp light brown eyes and a very nice look, but his expression is anything but friendly.
I scramble to my feet, eager to avoid any trouble, "Sorry," I sign hands moving quickly, but he merely raises an eyebrow, and he gives me a look, unimpressed. "Aren't you going to apologize?" Some girl chimes in draping herself on his arm, her tone dripping with sass, I sign again indicated that I already did.
"What's with the hand gestures?", she scoffs. I sigh in frustration looking at Violet, silently pleading for help.
"She already apologized, you dingus", she says to the girl and rolls her eye, her tone sharp as she steps in front of me protectively. The very tall boy continues to scrutinize me, his curiosity evident, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm on display. I take out my phone and start typing quickly, stepping to the side holding it up for them to see.
"I can't speak sorry", the phone reads, the girl looks at me and laughs. "Look at what we got here, people—a fat mute freak". Laughter erupts around us, a chorus of jeers, but Violet stands firm glaring. "Cut it out, Alicia".
The girl who I now know name is Alicia, but I think I'll just call her snarky, looks at Violet. "Aw Vee looking out for your new friend?", she says with a fake pout. Violet just rolls her eyes, I flinch as Violet pulls me away, feeling a pang of hurt at the way she grips my arm. I can't help but wonder if I'm already being a burden to her.
The guy that was eyeing me I guess had walked a while ago because when I looked back, I didn't see him.
Violet sighs as we stop in front of the door for our art class, "I'm so sorry about that Celaine" she tells me sincerely. I just sighed and pulled on her arm so we could go in.
"Okay class it appears we have a new student. Celaine would you like to introduce yourself to the class?", I shook my head vigorously but he persists "Come on, it'll be good for you!"
"Um... excuse me, Mr. Lore but I don't think she wants to" a student says, he looks at her clearing his throat. Relief washes over ever me as he awkwardly moves on.
"Okay does anyone know the history of art?" a kid raises his hand with a mischievous look in his eyes.
"Kyle?" Mr. Lore prompts. The kid smiles, "Nope" popping the 'p' like a balloon. So, we have a class clown. I roll my eyes with a slight smile if you were looking at me you might not have even noticed, it's a welcome distraction from my earlier encounter.
I tune the rest of class out, my mind drifting to the thoughts of home sand the empty stomach that gnaws at me. I love art, but the atmosphere feels heavy today, weighed down by my worries.
Finally, the bell rings— lunch time. I gather my things feeling slightly lighter, my first 3 periods weren't exactly the worse, everything actual went out fine aside from this morning and the fact that Snarky was in my math class, just ranting about how much of a freak I was.
I guess she has nothing better to do in her life then pick on the new kid, I'm kind of happy I can't talk or things would have ended badly for the both of us, I may be a very quiet person but I don't like when others pick on me, no matter how much I ignore them.
Navigating the cafeteria proves to be another challenge. I glance around for a seat, but the throngs of students make me feel even more isolated. You think looking for a seat in high school would be a little easy but unfortunately, it is not. I spot Violet, but she's surrounded by a group, and I hesitate. I don't want to intrude; I turned the other way but to my luck she started to call out for me.
I didn't want to be rude, so I pretended to look around before taking a deep breath, forcing a smile as I began walking toward to the table, she waved at me. While I awkwardly walked over to them.
"Everyone, this is Celaine!". Violet introduces me, and I'm met with a few waves, 'hey's," and "sups". I just wave Awkwardly back them. Violet gestures to each person in the group, "This is Skylar" she points to a girl has blond hair and bright blue eyes.
"Kyle" who was the class clown, has jet black hair and hazel color eyes.
"Kyan", who has dark brown hair and warm light brown eyes, they weren't hazel like Kyles but still pretty, and "Alex", who has dark brown hair, but I noticed she has red streaks in them. Made her look kind of badass, her eyes were dark brown.
I signed to them, but their confusion was palpable, Violet giggles, translating "She said it's nice to meet you". I nod "You too" Skylar says warmly.
The cafeteria buzzes with chatter, But I feel isolated despite sitting with Violet and her friends. I focus on the food in front of me—pizza and a small salad—but it's hard to swallow when the weight of their words hang over me.
As I take a small bite, I notice Kyle leaning back in his chair, his hazel eyes glimmering with mischief. "So, Celaine, what do you think of our school so far? Any craziness we should know about?"
I smirk slightly, appreciating the attempt to lighten the mood. Pulling out my phone I type, "It's not too bad, just getting used to the madness."
Violet reads it aloud, and Kyle chuckles. "Yeah, it's a wild ride. Just wait until pep rally season. You'll get to see all kinds of chaos."
Skylar laughs, a bright sound that cuts through the tension. "And all the dra,a. You'll fit right in, Celaine!"
I manage a small smile, feeling less alone. I settle into my thoughts and watch the others chat, Except for Kyan, who just stared at me for a second. What's with people just staring at me today? Kyan's gaze lingers on me, It's unnerving, the way he studies me as if trying to unravel a mystery.
"How did you get that scar?" He asked me and I freeze, my heart pounding. I'd forgotten all about it for a moment, the merk on my neck a constant reminder of my past. The scar on my neck wasn't bad looking it actually looks like I had a not so deep cut there.
I just shake my head, pulling my hood up to shield myself from his gaze. "How come you can't talk" he presses, making me feel a little uncomfortable. Alex notices and punches his arm lightly him, and he looks at her offended. "Dude chill. That's rude."
"Because she's a freak" I hear from behind me. The voice is unmistakable. Alicia. My heart sicks as I turns slowly, dread pooling in my stomach.
