You stared out of the window peacefully as the heavy rain poured down outside.
Usually people hate the rain and call it depressing, but you thought the opposite. The sounds it created were soothing and watching the water droplets fall down the glass was relaxing in your opinion.
A loud knock was heard at your door. You walked over to it slowly, wondering who on earth had bothered to come over in this type of winter weather.
"Woojin?" You asked in a surprised, yet happy tone.
"Hi." He smiled at you sheepishly as he dripped from head to toe with water.
Before asking any further questions, you quickly led him inside and passed him a towel. After changing into some of your baggy clothes and using your hairdryer to warm himself up again, he finally explained what was going on.
"So I've been thinking." He started off slowly, with a mysterious smirk on his face.
"That's never a good sign." You replied jokingly.
He smiled before continuing to speak, "I've decided that we should date, starting from today."
You almost choked on your own saliva.
"I'm sorry, what?" You couldn't believe the words that had just come out of your best friend's mouth, "Are you drunk?"
"No, I'm completely sober. I was sitting at home and this idea suddenly hit me, so that's why I came over here as quickly as possible."
He's actually gone mad.
"You just decided this out of the blue, then came over to my house during a rainstorm, without even putting a coat on?" You asked trying to understand the logic of his thoughts.
"Exactly. So what do you think?" He asked, expectantly waiting for your answer.
"I think you're crazy. You've had too many all-nighters and now the lack of sleep has caught up on you."
He pouted, "Oh come on. Everyone already thinks we're dating, let's just try it."
You stared at him confused, "But I don't see where this is coming from. It's so random of you to suddenly bring this up now."
He nodded as he agreed with you, "Well I have my reasons. Firstly, I've known you for a long time so I know you're a good person. Secondly, I saw the rain outside my bedroom and it reminded me of you."
"Woojin that makes no sense. How does that relate to us dating?" You asked.
"You like the rain. That's unique. I like people who are unique, like you." He said mysteriously.
You shook your head, "Stop speaking like that, it sounds like a riddle."
"You know exactly what I'm trying to say though. You're just too scared of admitting it - admitting that you like me back."
"Don't be ridiculous. You're just a friend, a friend who is being particularly annoying right now." You said copying his peculiar speech pattern.
He chuckled, "We don't have forever Y/N. Just say it."
"No I'm rejecting you. That's final."
"Don't lie to yourself, I dare you."
"I can't. Like you said, we don't have forever. You know I'm moving away next month, and that's exactly why I can't." You sighed and stood up from the couch, as you headed back towards your spot near the window.
"But that's why we should start dating today, to make the most of the time that we have left. It's better than letting you just move away and regret not knowing what could have been."
"But why would we put ourselves through the heartbreak that comes at the end?" You asked quietly.
He watched you carefully, "For the memories that we can create and remember when we miss each other."
"We can do that as friends."
"But I want to kiss you."
"Well fine, you can do that. But there's no need to complicate things by labelling our relationship."
"You're too stubborn."
"I'm just protecting myself."
"You don't need to protect yourself from me."
"Yes I do. You're a guy, and they can never be trusted."
"Maybe you're right. Don't trust us, because we can't control ourselves." He said, as he suddenly stood up and walked over to the window where you were sitting.
You didn't even try to move away as his lips passionately crashed onto yours. You let him wrap his arms around your waist, whilst your arms automatically snaked around his neck in response.
He eventually pulled away to your dismay, causing a small hum to leave your now empty lips.
He smirked, "Looks like girls can't control themselves either."
Woojin was right as always, you can't resist your emotions, and you shouldn't try to either. Life's too short for that.
"So what do you say? Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked again, this time intertwining his warm hands with yours.
You smiled brightly as you squeezed his hands, "A million times, yes."
