I woke up the next morning, griped tightly by Gio. I shook him, trying to get him to wake up, so I could get ready for school. Eventually, he opened his eyes.

"Mmm it's too early for this." He moaned while tightening his grip on me.

"You don't have to get up. You just have to let go of me." I reply. He let go of my waist and I walked in my bathroom.

After I got out of the shower I walked back in my room to get Gio out of bed. I walked over to my bed and sat on the corner. I shook Gio a a little bit, hoping to wake him, but he just pulled the covers up over his head.

"Gio I swear, if you don't get up..." I said as I tried to pull him off the bed.

"What? What would you actually do?" He asks with a smirk on his face.

"We won't hangout tonight." I reply, trying to keep a straight face. After hearing what I said, Gio shot up from his spot on my bed.

"Look I'm up." He says pulling my into a hug. "Now we can hangout tonight, right?" He asks.

"Yeah I suppose so..." I say with a laugh. Gio kisses the top of my head and smiled. "Ok smiley, go get ready for school."

Gio walked in my bathroom to get ready. I put on some makeup and packed up a few of my things that I take with me to school. I waited for Gio to come out before walking downstairs. When he did, I took his hand and we walked downstairs together. I grabbed something quickly to eat and handed Gio the same thing. We walked out to his car and he drove us to school. After he put the car in park, he walked over to my side of the car and opened my door, carried my bag, and held my hand.

"What's up with you today?" I ask with a laugh.

"What do you mean? I'm acting normal." He responds. I didn't fight with him, even though this wasn't true. Something seemed super off about Gio, it worries me a bit. He's always touchy, but he had my hand held tight and kept me as close to him as possible. Maybe he just wanted to show me off. When we entered the building I let go of Gio's hand, because I went over to stand with Adriana. Apparently Alex and Carlos weren't coming to school today, so I was in the clear to hang out with her without having Alex around.

"Ok, Leila tell me your side of the breakup now." She demanded. I laughed as I started the story.

{flashback to breakup}
The doorbell rung signaling that Alex was here. I made Gio stay in my room while I walked down to talk to him. We walked outside and sat on the porch swing. Alex tried his best to not let us split apart. As much as I hated to admit it, he really did care for me. He kept coming back with a reason we shouldn't breakup. The discussion got pretty emotional at one point.

"Sooo..." I say as I sat down in the porch swing. I patted the seat next to me, signaling him to sit next to me.

"Leila, I beg you don't break up with me. We can make this work. I'll do anything." His voice started to break as he finished his sentence.

"Alex were not right for each other and we both know it. We can't keep trying to drag it on. You'll find someone else." I reply

"I don't want someone else Leila. I still want you." He says.

"I'm sorry Alex, but I can't do this anymore." I reply.

"You might be letting me go, but I'm not giving up on you." Alex said as he pulled me into a hug. "I just wanted one last hug." He says with tears falling from his face.
{end of flashback}

"Wow Leila, either you made a lot of stuff up or Alex left a lot out ." Adriana says to me while looking at me with astonishment in her eyes.

"I told you the truth." I responded sincerely. I didn't really like talking about Alex and I, it made me really sad. I didn't want to breakup with him, let alone hurt him, but it was for the best, I think.

"I can't believe Alex didn't tell us the whole story." She says in an annoyed tone.

•••

After school was done, Gio and I went back to my house. When we got there we watched Netflix for awhile. Gio left early because his mom called, so I texted Alex. Dumb move right?

To Alex
Hey

From Alex
I figured you would have blocked me

To Alex
Why do you say that?

From Alex
We broke up

To Alex
Ohh.. well I talked to Adriana today.

From Alex
Ok and...

To Alex
She told me that our breakup stories were completely different.

From Alex
You probably just described it better.

To Alex
Yeah I guess

From Alex
Leila..?

To Alex
Yeah?

From Alex
Why did you break up with me? I wanna know you're side.

To Alex
That's a long story

From Alex
I'll take the time to hear it.

To Alex
Fine.
Wanna talk in person?

From Alex
Yeah. I'll meet you at the park in 10.

I walked upstairs and changed into a casual outfit and headed out the door. I walked and took a few turns, until I was finally at the park. I saw Alex sitting on a park bench and I walked over to him.

"Hey" I said as I sat down.

"Hey." He replied.

"Ok I'll sum up my side for you, ok?" I say

"Ok. Good enough." He replied in a monotone voice.

"I just felt like you didn't trust me around other guys. You probably felt like I was thottin around school because I have a lot of guy friends, but that's not the case. You were just always jealous." I say

"Oh. I get it." He says

"Alex are you ok?" I ask while looking him in the eyes.

"Isn't it weird that your ex is asking you that?" I say with a laugh.

"Don't call yourself that. I don't want you to just be my ex."
