So, as another Christmas Day came and went, so did the talking.

A rooster's cock-a-doodle-do crow was heard as the chickens were woken up with the sun shining in their faces.

Annabelle woke up the next morning and she just couldn't wait to see if she'd really grown antlers overnight. The chickens quickly followed the eager little calf over to the watering trough to see her reflection.

Nope, the antlers and the flying had all just been a dream.

Ears, Billy, Kali, and the other adventure kids then entered the barn, having carrots for the animals.

"Good morning, guys" Kali greeted the animals.

The chickens happily came over to their human friends while Annabelle mooed a greeting to them. The adventure kids could still understand her. But when Annabelle didn't talk for Billy, he began to wonder if he'd been dreaming, too.

The adventure kids and chickens all looked to each other, wondering what Billy and Annabelle were thinking.

Later that morning, Charles was shoveling snow in his driveway when Gus and the Sheriff came over. Ears growled at them as they approached.

"Sheriff. Uh, Gus, is there a problem?" Charles asked as they came over.

"Well yes, Charlie, I'm afraid there is" The Sheriff explained. "It seems your grandson and that new calf of his caused some damage over at the Holders' place. Tore down a fence"

The adventure kids and chickens then peeked their heads out the barn door, overhearing the adults conversation.

"Well, Gus, I'm right sorry about that" Charles apologized. "I'll pay for the damages. You know I'm good for it"

"Don't give me that, Charlie!" Gus glowered at him. "You and I both know you don't have the money. But that's why I'm not asking for money. I'll just take that young cow of yours instead"

The kids and chickens gasped, once hearing that Gus was going to take Annabelle away.

"Go get her, boys" Gus then told his sons and they headed towards the barn.

"He can't do that... can he?" Charles asked the sheriff.

"I'm afraid so, Charlie" The Sheriff frowned.

"Heck, Charlie, I'm doing you a favor" Gus said. "Don't know how you could afford to feed her anyway"

As Bucky and Buster came into the barn to take Annabelle away, Billy clutched onto the little calf. He was scared to lose his bestest friend and so was Annabelle. But the adventure kids and chickens wouldn't let that happen, knowing Billy and Annabelle couldn't be separated.

"Get out of the way, losers!" Buster glared at the gang.

"If you want her, you'll have to go through us first!" Kali glared as she, her friends, and the chickens all stood defensively around Annabelle, not letting the mean Holder boys anywhere near her.

The kids all fought while they kept the Holder boys from trying to take Annabelle.

Annabelle mooed in agitation, trying to get away from the Holder boys.

"Let's go! Come on, you stupid cow!" Bucky and Buster glared, trying to get a lasso around her but kids and chickens got in the way, not letting them.

"You're not gonna lay a hand on her!" Kali warned while all the chickens squawked aggressively towards the Holder boys with their feathers ruffled up.

The adults soon heard the commotion and came into the barn to see the kids fighting.

"Step aside" Gus told the adventure kids, trying to take Annabelle himself.

"No! You can't do this!" The twins glared at the grouchy man. "We won't let you take Annabelle away from Billy!"

"There must be another way" Teeders said.

"I've had just about enough of your shenanigans" Gus glared at the adventure kids. "I'm warning you, if you don't get out of my way I might as well take your chickens too" he threatened.

"Over my dead body!" Kali fiercely glared back at the grouchy man, while putting her arms protectively around her chickens. The eight-year-old tomboy was very protective of her chicken friends. She would risk her life for them.

"I'm getting tired of this!" Gus warned and was about to grab Annabelle when...

"Wait!" Grandpa Baker got an idea and ran into his house for a moment then came back outside with something in his hands.

As the gang got a closer look, they gasped to see that it was his daughter Sarah's music box. Charles had told them that it was her most treasured possession. He had gotten the idea to sell it in order to get the money to pay for the fence damages.

"Grandpa Baker, no!" The adventure kids begged. "That's your daughter's music box! You can't sell that, it's all you have left of her!"

"It's okay..." Grandpa Baker sighed to them. "I've realized you can't hang onto some things forever..."

"She'd understand" Charles frowned, but knew how much Billy needed Annabelle.

The kids and chickens all frowned but soon slowly smiled, realizing how much Charles loved his grandson that he would give up something he loved so much to keep Billy happy with what he loved so much.

"Mmmm, fine" Gus grumbled, coming to an agreement with Charles. "Come on, boys" he then left with his sons.

The kids and chickens glared at the Holders as they watched them leave, then smiled back at their friends, happy that they had saved Annabelle.

So, Grandpa did what he had to do. He sold the music box... and Billy got to keep Annabelle. He just knew that some friends shouldn't be separated.

Sadly, the adventure kids and chickens soon had to go back home. Saying goodbye to their friends but promising to visit them again.

The adventure kids and chickens came back to visit Emily, Billy, and Annabelle a lot over that next year. Enjoying all the different things each season had to offer them.

Like, the blooming of the beautiful flowers in the spring and welcoming new life. Flying kites and going on picnics in the summer. Plus stargazing at night, which was Ginger and Rocky's favorite especially when they had their friends and family with them. Carving pumpkins in the fall and watching the colorful leaves fall from the trees and jumping into piles of them.

But best of all had to be playing in the snow and making snowman during the winter.

A lot had happened during that year for Kali and the chickens adventures. But they still visited Billy and Annabelle, who had really grown inseparable as friends over the past few months. Just like the strong relationship between Kali and Ginger.
