As Adonis took Rani back through Athens, they saw Astraia and her group huddeled around something apparently exciting. A light brown head bobbed in and out of the crowd of ever growing people. Adonis glanced at Rani.

"Stay here." he told her cautiously, something obviously on his mind. He walked toward the commotion. Rani watched the crowd stare at Adonis as he walked over.

"There he is!" she heard Chloe cry. The crowd made a path for the light brown haired person to walk through. It was a girl. She was beautiful, more exquisite than Astraia. Her light brown hair fell in perfect ringlets. She had beige skin that seemed to eminate. She had striking icy blue eyes. Her pure white gown was flawless. She somehow looked familiar to Rani.

"Adonis." she smiled ruefully. She glanced over at Rani, making her shudder. Those icy eyes sent Rani chills.

"Myrina?" he breathed. Adonis was obviously shocked to see her, he kept glancing back at Rani. "What in the hell are you doing here?" he gasped. Myrina stroked his face, watching Rani.

"I missed you." she crooned, her voice sweet like honey. Adonis pulled back.

"Myrina, this is Rani." he said, going back to her and clutching her hand. Rani's face flushed as she remembered where Myrina was from. Myrina was also a mermaidian. She was the princess of the Aegean Sea region. She and her family have the smallest kingdom in the sea world. She hated Rani ever since she could remember, for what, she didn't know. Her kingdom and Rani's were not on mutual terms. Obviously, Myrina had come to Athens before.

"Rani, it's so nice to meet you." Myrina smiled evilly. Her teeth looked as sharp as daggers. She could easily have been a siren. "You're new, I don't remember you in this city." she hissed. Rani bore her eyes into Myrina.

"And you're old, I guess." Rani smirked. Myrina recoiled.

"Ranessa, is it?" she said, her face unreadable. Rani's eyes widened.

"Myrina, her name is Rani. Rani, let's go." Adonis scoffed. Rani could hear her heart pounding in her ears.

"No, Adonis, her name is Ranessa." Myrina said sharply. Adonis held Rani's hand tighter and pulled her forward.

"Come on, Rani, we are leaving." he said coldly as Myrina crossed her arms and stared at them as they hurried away.

When she was out of hearing range, Adonis burst.

"Rani, I'm so sorry about Myrina. She's just so... so...." he trailed off. "She really knows how to make someone uncomfortable."

Rani had no words to say. She was too overwhelmed to see Myrina here.

Adonis got his horse and helped Rani up. They said nothing on the way back. The dark clouds finally gave away and the rain fell. Rani's hair got stringy and matted to her solemn face.

"Rani?" Adonis finally whispered though the faint droplets of the rain. He glanced back as if to see if she was indeed still there.

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry about Myrina. Can I tell you the story when we get home?" he inquired.

"Yes."

The rain started to pour as they trotted up to the little house. Adonis swiftly leaped off the horse, then assisted Rani off.

"Look, I know you're the whole city's talk. 'Oh, here comes Adonis! He's so attractive with that little girl clutched to his arm. Let's go steal him away!' Every girl wants to be with you, including me. But I didn't come here to get my heart broken by some womanizer!" Rani yelled at him.

Her heart filled with hurt and fury. Adonis's hazel eyes bore into her. He marched right up to her and clutched her face and kissed her with more passion and fiery love than before. After he pulled away, his eyes stared back into hers.

"The only girl I want to be with, is you." he breathed and kissed her again. She gripped the back of his neck and pulled his face closer to hers. His arms wrapped around her little waist. His tongue traced her closed lips until she opened her mouth. Their tongues intertwined and he swooped her up and carried her to the barn. An empty space filled with homemade blankets and hay was where he gently put her down. He closed the barn door and went back to her, kissing her neck. She ran her fingers through his short hair and slid off his one shoulder tunic, exposing his bare chest. He slowly took off her blue gown. He kissed every inch of her body and made love to her as the storm outside continuously beat against the barn. That night, they both fell asleep in each other's arms. Their fate was now forever intertwined.
