Earlier that morning...
Each member of the Igiby family is doing their own chores. TINK is trying shakily to repair a shingle on the roof. LEELI is peeling totatoes, with her dog Nugget running around her feet. She finishes one, then hands it to NIA, who is using them to make stew. PODO HELMER is in the garden gathering herbs, and then notices a thwap. JANNER, who is shoveling hay next to Danny the carthorse, stops to take a breather, looks around to make sure no one is watching, then takes a piece of paper out of his pocket. He unfolds it to reveal a drawing of a boy that looks like him on a sailboat, and he looks at it and out toward the cliffs longingly. He then sighs, shakes his head, and goes back to his chores. Back by the house, LEELI hands another peeled totato to NIA.
LEELI: That's the last one, Mama!
NIA: Thank you, Leeli. I'm going to go get the other ingredients for the stew, okay?
LEELI: I can get them!
LEELI grabs her crutch, stands up, and begins to walk towards the house, Nugget following happily. Meanwhile, JANNER stops what he's doing and looks up at his brother on the roof.
JANNER: Come on, Tink, it doesn't take that long to hammer a few shingles into the roof!
TINK's hands are violently shaking as he tries to hammer a nail into the roof, he is breathing heavily.
TINK: Just let me concentrate, okay!
He then makes the mistake of trying to turn around and look at JANNER, which reminds him that he is not on the ground, which causes him to suddenly hug the roof in fear, which causes him to drop the hammer, which lands a few feet away from LEELI. TINK groans.
TINK: Can someone throw that back up here?
LEELI: I'll get it!
As LEELI moves to get the hammer, NIA smiles and goes inside to get the ingredients. LEELI throws the hammer with all her might... which causes it to sail right over TINK's head and onto the opposite side of the house.
TINK: [groaning again] Leeli, that was too hard!
LEELI: Oops.
TINK: Janner, can you grab that?
JANNER sighs, walks over to the hammer, and picks it up. Before throwing it though, he looks at it and smiles. He then throws it straight over TINK's head again.
LEELI: Nugget!
Nugget dodges the falling hammer, then barks and starts growling at it.
JANNER: [sarcastically] Oops, I threw it too hard too! Guess you'll have to throw it up to him, Leeli!
LEELI giggles, understanding, and throws the hammer back to JANNER, and they begin to toss it back and forth, laughing, with Nugget barking and running around LEELI's heels and TINK protesting the whole time. From inside, NIA hears the laughter and looks out the window, slightly puzzled. Back outside, TINK begins to slowly make his way down the ladder. JANNER catches the hammer and is about to throw it again when he sees what TINK is doing. He grins and begins sprinting away from the house. TINK reaches the ground and runs after JANNER, easily overtaking him, and tackles him. Both boys are smiling and laughing as they try to keep the hammer away from one another. NIA's voice is suddenly heard from off.
NIA: Boys! [The boys stop and look in the direction of their mother, who is then seen walking towards them with her hands on her hips and a stern look on her face.] Janner Igiby, you know better than to throw a hammer, especially at your sister.
JANNER: But I was just-- [NIA stops him with a look and a small noise. JANNER sighs and hangs his head a bit.] Yes, Mama.
NIA: Are you done with your chores? [JANNER nods] Good. Then you can come and help me with breakfast.
TINK: Breakfast!
NIA: Kalmar, are you done fixing the roof yet?
TINK: Mama, why do I have to do that?
NIA puts an arm around him and they start walking back to the house.
NIA: It's just to help you face your fear, honey.
TINK: [grumbling] You're just saying that because Grandpa says it.
NIA: That doesn't make it any less true. Now come on.
She begins to walk back towards the house by herself, leaving the boys to follow at a slight distance.
JANNER: Seriously? Now your fear of heights just got us yelled at.
He smiles and jabs TINK with his elbow, knowing full well that the yelling at was his fault.
TINK: Pshhh, I'm not afraid of heights!
JANNER: [with a snort] Uh huh. And Peet the Sock Man's my uncle.
Both boys laugh

Wingfeather Saga Book 1 movie script and ideas
FantasySo this is a thing that I've started to do. The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson is my favorite book series of all time. I decided to major in digital media production in college just in the hope that I could make these books into movies someday...
