A Better Book

Flora was beyond flustered but she tried her best not to show it. The whole time they were talking she was very aware of her tiny hand being engulfed in the warmth of his hand. It was so, so calming. He radiated a warmth that she couldn't obtain from the suns behind her eyes. He was probably bigger than her suns too.

After she mentioned that they were holding hands, he let go and looked down with a crimson face. She wished she didn't mention it now. But it was good timing because that was the time Julius came walking back in.

"Right then, we best get to work now Mr Lawson." Julius walked around the table and sat down at the other end. That made Flora wonder, why on earth has he sat so far away?

He didn't really look up to make eye contact with either of them, but then when he did lift his eyes, he did a bit of a double take. To Flora, he looked slightly stunned, before he plastered a sneaky smirk on his face. Flora lifted an eyebrow, ridiculed at his expression. She would ask him about that after.

"Ok," Taine replied to Julius. Flora had never heard the name Taine before.  She loved it though. Difficult to create a nickname out of, but she would work on it.

She realised that JuJu must've set them up, well her really. Sneaky old man. She'd have to have a word with him later, not that she was complaining.

"Do you want me to leave, I don't want to intrude?" She asked, averting my attention from Julius and giving it to Taine.

His head lifted up his eyes widened for some reason and his eyebrows were lifted. To her, he was very much an open book. That she wanted to recite the words to and write a sequel to. A dream she would love to come true.

Taine violently shook his head at her, making her smile grow.

"Good, I didn't want to leave anyway. I'll just sit here and read while you work okay?" She clarified for him and he nodded, his attention soon going to Julius who still had a sneaky glint to his eye.

As Mr White and Maine worked on his speech, she sort of got a bit distracted in her own mind really. She forgot about the random book in her hands, staring at the pages just like they were filled with empty words. She was too lost in the mess in her head.

That mess was the enthrallment of Taine. His black hair was longer on the top and shaven shorter on the sides, blending in with his expertly shaven facial hair. That one small silver hoop earring on his left ear-matched the one on his eyebrow, which was pierced right on a scar which went from his brow bone to about a quarter way down his scalp. He also had a silver lip ring on the right side of his bottom lip going straight over a scar too. It seemed like he had a pierced hole on his straight nose too, but he just wasn't wearing it. He had slightly arched eyebrows which led to his deep-set eyes that were so piercing ( how convenient ), he could make anyone forget everything going on in their life and be completely entranced by... him.  He also had a jawline to die for with his perfect heart shape face and nice cheekbones too. basically, he was a god.

His body was absolutely huge, bumps of his muscles popping out everywhere, and you could see that tattoos running just by his neck and down his hands that had a few thick rings on. Flora could stare at him all day. He was a piece of art, all constructed by himself. She hoped anyway.

But the main thing on her mind was, why did he need speech lessons? He sounded American, but she honestly had no idea why he couldn't spill out his words like most people. Maybe he was in an accident or was from a different country? But if these questions were the right ones to ask, then she would be left with too much of a vague answer.

The other thing she knew about of him was that he may be an angry person, but that assumption wasn't set in stone. And no assumption or judgement should be, Flora knew this.

Soon she regained her awareness and began reading the book again, fiddling around with her little necklace chain, that was yet to have any pendants on.

She read for quite some time before she gave up and her attention was lost and found itself again right on Taine. He was listening intently to what Julius was saying, then spoke whatever he could after him. However Flora wasn't really listening, she was just focusing on the way his thin but pouty lips moved and froze when he didn't think he was saying something correctly.

It was an adorable sight you wouldn't usually attach to someone like Taine. Although she couldn't say that about him. He wasn't just someone with big muscles and a bunch of tats and piercings. He was a book with a million pages with million dollar words, nothing like anything else she's ever seen. The stars in his eyes highlighted his troubles, and she didn't see another purpose but to be next to him, understand him and help him in the purest of ways.

Soon she noticed Taine was finished with his lesson and that Julius was packing away his things.

"Soon son I think you won't need me anymore, as I said if you keep on speaking and writing, these appointments will become less frequent. I'll be off now, see you soon Mr Lawson and you too little dove." Julius smiled at the two who looked quite content and walked out. Flora returned his smile of course but Taine just gave him an appreciative head nod. That was all Julius needed anyways to understand him.

"How long have you been doing these lessons for?" Flora asked.

"Four and... Or three years. Began when I was 17... Maybe. Can't remember." He grumbled turning around to her.

"Do you even like the lessons?" She asked again.

"Yes. They make me normal again. I like to think." He told her with sincerity shining in his eyes.

She knew he wasn't a different normal person. She flipping well knew it.

"I see. Well, " she checks the time and realised she has her class very soon. "I must be going now, unfortunately, but could I please get your number so we can hang out in the near future?" She offered with hope and he smiled at that.

"Definitely." He answered and retrieved his barely used phone from his bag.

Once they swiftly exchanged numbers, Taine was surprisingly the one that mentioned texting her first. She was more than elated about that. Everything was just so much more with him - it seemed like that anyway.

They parted ways and they both could not be more content with how their second encounter went.

She couldn't wait to see him again.
