Swords & Shields
Chapter 6
--------------
Genny wasted no time to hurry and get over to Nottingham, she knew that he would probably confirm her fears on him attacking Guy.
She knew that Guy had killed Marian and Robin was just gettin back at him for it but killing him wasn't a good form a of revenge, it doesn't solve anything. It wouldn't bing her back, no matter what he does to Guy.
She was quite slow, seeing that her mind had completely overlooked the fact that she had her horse. She was to worried, not for Guy, well, she was worried for him but she was more worried about the mental state of Robin. She cared about him and didn't want the good, honest man she knew to be corrupted into the dark, brooding man that Guy was. She wouldn't stand that.
The hem of her dress was dirty from being dragged on the dirt as her legs propelled her through Sherwood, her golden blonde hair flowing behind her as she ran. She could see Nottingham at the break in the trees now.
As she made it to the gates, the guards let her through but wouldn't let Robin's men, who ran with her, she turned and looked at the guards, giving a small nod and reluctantly, they let them pass with her.
They all hurried to the square in front of the castle and nothing was there. They all stood there confused. She didn't even hear anything, not even the bustle of daily life of the townsfolk. Why was everyone gone?
"You all should go. If Robin isn't here, then you're all going to be executed. Go." She warned and walked forward into the castle as the men shook their heads and continued to pursue into the castle.
"You men.." She began in a scolding tone.
"Are the most loyal, kind, and honorable men I've ever known." She ended with a smile.
They all smiled at her cheesy comment and Allan stepped forward, of course. He always had something to say.
"Yeah, yeah. We have time for that later, right now we need to find Robin and get him out of here, if he is here at all." He explained.
"You're right, for once." Much replied in a low voice.
[ a/n - sassy 'much'? someone stop me 😂 ]
Allan disregarded it and they all drew their weapons, stealthily walking around the castle in a group. They wouldn't get anywhere like this.
"We need to split up." She said quietly and they all agreed, walking in seperate ways, leaving Genevieve alone for the millionth time in her life. Now she wasn't so sure about it but she knew that if she was caught, she could just explain she was looking for Guy and be taken to him right away.
Why didn't she think of that before? Maybe it was the blonde in her. Ever since she was little she was teased and called albino because at the time she was the only one with pure blonde hair. People in town had yellow-tinted blonde hair but she had a white hued blonde, like Pearl. People then created the rumor that blondes like her weren't as smart.
She hated to think it but she didn't get killed because of her mouth like Marian.
Tears formed in her eyes. How could she let herself think that low of Marian? She was her best friend.
She shook her head and thought of her plan thouroughly.
She sheathed her sword and put an innocent face, the one that she had practiced so much with Guy before and after Marian.
"Guy?" She called in a gentle, but loud voice, loud enough that you could hear it over many voices but soft enough to be considered as beautiful. She had mastered the art of persuasion and sadly, seduction, which she would never use.
"Guy..." She said chalantly, dragging out his name in a rythmically tune. It had a playful hint to it, as if they were children playing hide and seek, and she was the seeker.
"Genevieve?" He heard his voice from her standing point and smirked to herself, knowing her master plan had worked.
She saw him approach from around the corner, not even the slightest bit weary. Her fears had not been confirmed to her relief but one question stood, where was Robin?
"I don't know what came over me but I thought that something terrible had happened to you." Genny said in relief as Guy tilted his head in confusion.
"Well. I'm fine. And obviously you went into Sherwood?" He asked, making a gesture to her dress, which was torn and had twigs and leaves and dirt all caught up in it.
Genevieve thought fast and shook her head.
"No, Guy after that man attacked me, I ran towards the gates yes, but I turned into a shop, but I tripped and my dress got caught in the bushes and the dirt is from the man dragging me to his horse, I wouldn't disobey you, Sir Guy." She lied with a straight yet pleading face, mocking a begging for his forgiveness.
He nodded. "On that subject.. Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" He asked but as if he wouldn't believe her answer, he checked her anyway.
"No, I'm fine Guy, did he hurt you, is the main question?" She asked, truly concerned about the well being of this man. She cared for him as well as Robin.
"I am alright and the man, Scar? He is in the dungeon, to be hung tomorow." He said with a grin as if he was proud of someone's death.
Sure Scar attacked her but that didn't mean he had to die for it, he should be in prison for a while but not hung. She strongly disliked hangings, she was the entire opposite of her father.
She got Guys attention and achieved her goal of finding out wether Robin was fighting him or not but now how to get rid of him? That was the problem, he had a tough time letting her go.
As if to answer her prayers, Robins men interupted with Robin at their lead, which made her heart flutter with relief that he was okay. Was he still her to fight him though? To break their promise?
"Run!" Robin hollered, to her relief, he was in no mood to fight or break any promise today. The men began to run towards the gates of Nottingham.
"Hood!" Guy hollered and looked at her with a scolding eye, warning her to stay but she acted like she didn't hear him and ran forward, towards the stable.
"Don't worry! I'll get him!" She lied and mounted her horse, charging after the outlaws who had already stolen horses and rode off to Sherwood, back to camp.
