"What are you doing here?" Hennessy's eyes were cold and her words were too.
There before her stood the woman who contributed to Bick's demise against her. She looked worried, scared even with the same fear in her eyes that Hennessy had that night.
The same night her life fell apart.
"Hennes-
Holding up a hand she hushed her.
"I asked you a question, and I won't ask again." Her mother had no right to speak to her unless she was telling her what she wanted to know.
"Sukani, I'm down on my luck, I haven't seen your father in 2 months and I don't know what to do, we're broke with bills to pay and Bick was our only source of income."
By now she had tears in her eyes, putting on an even bigger facade.
Scoffing lightly, Hennessy shook her head. Disgusted wasn't the word. She had some nerve to not only stalk her but call a rapist her father and ask her for help as if she had been completely innocent in the entire situation.
Apart of her was sorry though, since she knew exactly where Bick was, and knew he wasn't coming back.
"I don't understand what that has to do with me. Get a job." Her mother's face fell as she looked slightly embarrassed. "Hennessy you don't understand, we've hit rock bottom."
"Well I'm sorry to hear that." She took a small pause while shifting in the doorway of her home. "How did you get this address anyway?"
There was a brief pause before her mother spoke.
"I followed you."
Hennessy laughed a little before looking behind her seeing no sign of Amari or Ahmad. "So where are the twins?" Her mother's face flushed but she concealed her fear with a smile, before Hennessy could notice.
"Don't worry they're safe."
'Lie'
The last thing they were, was safe. Abducted and ransomed.
