"Oi, Harry! Let’s go see that new movie!"
"We should grab a bite to eat!"
"I’ve been wanting to go bowling for awhile now! Does that sound fun?"
Liam was never the clingy type. It was because of this that Harry didn’t understand why he was doing SOMETHING with Liam every single day. He loved his mate with all his heart, but every hour of every day? Even the best of friends didn’t hangout that much. It wasn’t healthy.
Not to mention Louis, who he hadn’t seen in what felt like forever. They’d lock themselves in the janitor’s closets at school, hide in the bathroom, anything to get some sort of quality time in there. But when Harry wasn’t at their house, he was bowling, or eating pizza, or watching Batman. At one point Liam had even asked him if he wanted to go to the store with him just to pick up toothpaste. Why would he want to see his friend buy toothpaste?
"Is everything okay with you and Danielle, mate?" Harry asked, the two of them shopping for old DVDs they could watch tonight. Apparently tonight was ‘movie night’. With a bit of disgust, Harry realised he was acting like more of a couple with Liam than with Louis. Nothing against Liam, Harry had just never had those sort of feelings for him. Liam was his brother, not boyfriend. That was… Ew.
"Yeah, we’re fine, why?" Liam asked, completely clueless.
Harry shrugged, picking a DVD up and looking at the back of it idly.
"We’ve just been hanging out a lot more often, I guess. I thought you’d like to be spending time with Danielle. Since, you know, you’re dating."
Liam bit his lip. “I just, um, wanted to spend time with you.”
"Look, Li, you’re my best bud. Nothing is ever going to change that. But you’re absolute shit at lying and I’m not exactly stupid, either."
"Fine, do you want to know what happened?" Liam resigned, sighing deeply.
Harry nodded. “Of course, spill it all out!” he did not just sound like a gossiping teenage girl. No matter what you think or say.
"Danielle asked if I wanted to visit her Grandmother’s bungalow with her. She was… Hinting around… You know what I mean?"
If Liam was having a hard time just saying the words, Harry knew he wasn’t ready to actually be doing them.
"Sex, you mean?"
Liam rolled his eyes. “What else, Curly? I don’t think I’m ready…” He trailed off, looking at all the movies surrounding them.
"Why don’t you just talk with her? I bet she’s as nervous as you are about this. Ignoring her isn’t going to help anything, Liam. Trust me, it won’t."
"I think I’m going to call her now!" Liam said confidently, pulling out his phone.
