Everything was perfect for Liam. He had his best mate Harry, his girlfriend Danielle, and he was happy. Genuinely happy, not the fake kind that some people had to plaster on their faces, like the kind that he used to wear before Danielle.

He still couldn’t believe she fancied him back. Since their first date at the theatre, things had just taken off. For the better, of course. Danielle was his first real girlfriend, and Liam loved her with all his heart. But when it came to the physical side of things, well, Liam was hesitant. Very hesitant.

There was no doubt in his mind that Danielle had had sex before. Liam sort of wished he could say the same thing, (only geeks were virgins in eleventh grade) but the truth was he felt like he was taking advantage of them. Not to mention if they got pregnant! Liam couldn’t be able to handle being a teenage father… He had hopes and dreams, just like he knew Danielle did. So she agreed to wait for him.

‘Hey, babe, I really need to speak with you. Come over as fast as you can xx’ Danielle texted Liam.

Liam quickly typed back a response. ‘Of course, be right over’ it said. He mumbled to his brother, who was sitting right next to him, where he was going. Louis’ eyebrows raised, but Liam just shook it off. He was used to Louis’ dirty remarks about his relationship.

He made his way to the door, twirling his new car keys around his finger. He’d finally gotten his license a week ago, and to say he was happy was an understatement. Liam was overjoyed. He didn’t have to have his brother or Harry take him places anymore. They always seemed to give him shit for that.

The drive to Danielle’s seemed longer than it normally was. Soon enough though, he was making his way out of his new car (his Mum and Dad had both saved up for him, which Liam found incredibly endearing) and to the front of her house. He wondered for a moment what Danielle wanted to talk about before he was greeted with a quick hug and a head of mega curls.

“Hey Li, glad you could make it! Come on in.” She lead him inside the all too familiar house, her smile turning into a frown as they sat down on the couch.

“What’s wrong, Dani?” Liam asked, concern evident in his voice.

Danielle looked to her hands. “There’s no easy way to say this…”

She was breaking up with him. There was no other possible explanation to why his usually chipper and upbeat girlfriend was now frowning gravely at her hands. Liam ran a shaking hand through his hair.

“Don’t dwindle… Just… Do it, please.” Liam said, trying to prevent his voice from cracking. He surprisingly did pretty well. It only had a slight tremor at the end.

“I, um, gosh I don’t know if I can do this right now.” Liam comfortingly rubbed her back, silently telling her to go on. “I’m moving.”

Liam mouth opened in shock. “Y-You can’t move, it’s almost the end of the school year. That wouldn’t be fair to you!”

Danielle shook her head, laughing bitterly to herself. “Try telling my Dad that. It’s because of his stupid work! And you know what he said to me? He said he’s glad we’re moving because apparently you and I are too close already. I told him we weren’t doing anything, like sex you know, but he didn’t believe me and…” Her voice broke, letting out a small sniffle. “I’m going to miss you.”
