As I got home from the cave, I put on my Pj's, and fell asleep as soon as I hit my soft bed. That night I had the strangest dream. I heard a voice calling out my name. I opened my eyes to see that I was floating in the water. I looked around, but I couldn't spot anything at all. It called out to me again... I know that voice. It was Serena's, and she kept calling out to me, but this time it sounded like she was in some sort of trouble.

"Help, Eli! Please!" Her voice echoed through the water. I followed her voice. As I swam deeper and deeper into the depths of the sea it got darker and darker, until it was pitch black.

"Serena! Where are you, I'm here. Don't worry I'll save you!" I called out to her, and there was nothing. I felt a chill go throughout my whole body. I could tell someTHING was watching me, but I knew I couldn't see anything down here. I felt ITS presence. I could've sworn that her voice came from down here... Hiss. Woah! I felt something smooth and slippery slide across my leg. I couldn't see anything, and i was all alone in the cold and dark depths of the ocean, not even sure if Serena was down here.

Just when I was going to swim myself to the surface of the water, something grabbed my right leg and pulled me down deeper. I thrashed and tried to get away from its grip, but no matter how hard I'd tried its grip just got tighter. The light of the sun was gone now and I was terrified of what was going to happen. Just then It let go of me, and i floated in the darkness.

Suddenly, there was a small ray of light coming from my right. I followed it. As I got closer, the light grew bigger and brighter, until I saw myself in an underwater dome. It glowed light blue, just like the pool that I found Serena in. As I swam in, I heard a noise. It sounded like crying and sobbing.

"Someone. Please help!" It was Serena!  It came from a tunnel lightly lit by glowing blue corals. I didn't hesitate about swimming after her.

I swam rapidly towards and into the tunnel. As I swam I felt uneasy again. This didn't feel right at all. Something told me to turn back and swim away. I stopped in the middle of the tunnel and looked from where I had heard Serena's voice, and back to where I came from.

Then, when I turned to where her voice led me, there stood another woman. She was as stunning as Serena, but looked a little older. She came closer and touched my cheek. Her fingers were cold and when I looked at her from head to toe, I saw a red and black tipped tail attached to her lower half. Another mermaid? She stared into my eyes with a sad expression. Then curved her lips into a smile, as she opened her mouth, I had least expected two rows of razor sharp and jagged teeth to smile back at me. My eyes turned wide, and I screamed. She grabbed my neck and dragged my whole body into the tunnel. Despite her feeble body,  she was strong and her hands were cold and hard as iron. No mater how hard I tried to pull her off, she wouldn't lose grip. As she dragged my body into the tunnel, we finally entered a room.

I began to finally regret trying to be a hero. Just when I thought she would kill me, she spoke.

"You dirty, human! Give me back the princess!" She snarled into my face, her teeth white and ready to devour me. "If you value your life, more importantly, your family's, then I suggest you hand over the royal brat." She pulled my face closer this time. "Or else I will kill you and everyone on this island! You do not know how long it took me to track her, and to finally find her was all I needed to make the king happy! Remember this human, if you don't bring her back by the next full moon, you and your other kind on this island will have something else to fish out of the ocean... and it's not gonna be anything you would like." Her eyes turned into a black void and it was enough to send a painful pain in my chest. I wailed again, unable to speak. I shut my eyes and felt the pain travel to every part of my body.

I sat up, breath heavy, and sheets wet form sweat. I felt a cold and alarming chill all over. I couldn't believe what I had dreamed, a killer mermaid threatening to kill me and the people I most cared about. I thought about what she said... I couldn't let this get to me. It was just a DREAM, i told myself. But when I tried to forget, her hateful black eyes came up in my head, warning me to choose life or death.

It was still dark out and the night was hot. I stared out my window with a worried expression, wondering where Serena was and if she was safe from any danger. I laid back down and looked up my sun roof. The moon wasn't in the sky, but in a month there would be a full glowing moon above my head. FULL MOON! I had a month to get myself out of this situation, and the first thing I needed to know was the truth... the WHOLE truth.
