Dolly Beckett quickly took a sip from a can of soda before hiding it under her desk, just in case. A perfect doll must drink healthy. Dolly continued her homework on her computer, then maybe she can do something fun. A perfect doll must always have her work done.
That's all her life is, being a perfect doll. Dolly despised it, while other kids got to run around at recess and have fun, she was forced to stay inside wearing a face mask. Now that she's older, she's allowed to do more.
Completing her homework, Dolly checked her phone, looking threw her notifications. It's a miracle that her parents gave her phone, as long as she lets them check it every once in a while.
Her phone chimed with a text from her best friend Neil. Almost her only friend, Neil even knows how her parents are, he's the only one she can really talk to.
"Dolly! Time for dinner!" Her mother announced from downstairs. Dolly didn't hesitate, she got up and rushed downstairs. Her father came back on time today, locking the front door behind him. He smiled at Dolly as he pecked her forehead.
"Hey there, how was school?" He asked softly.
"Fun. I got all my homework." She reported.
"That's my doll." Her mother nearly sang from the kitchen. Dolly came and sat down in her chair at the dinning table, waiting on the meal.
"I also got an invite to a birthday party." Dolly spoke up. Both of her parents gave each other an off look, before trying to brush it off.
"Um, who's birthday?" Her mother asked, carefully setting down plates of food on the table.
"Penelope Price. She's my age, and in my grade. May I go?" Dolly dared to ask. She never really got to go to sleepovers when she was younger, much less parties.
"We'll think about it." Her mother stated. Dolly sighed, knowing that was a no.
"Now eat up, a perfect doll must have her energy." Her mother smiled. Dolly gave the beautiful plate of food a dull look. She wasn't never a fan of pasta, but she has no choice. After dinner, it's bedtime. Dolly showered, changed, brushed her hair and teeth, then used an acne pad on her face. Once done, Dolly sat in bed on her phone. Something that is not allowed, because a perfect doll must have a full nights rest.
She set her alarms for the morning, then texted back Neil. She had to let him know Penelope's party was a no. Neil quickly sent her a text back, 'no worries, I don't like being around her anyway.'
Dolly couldn't stop her smile, he was truly her best friend. Setting her phone on her nightstand, Dolly laid down to sleep.
She about fell asleep, when she heard the soft click of a lock turning over. Right on time, her father locks her door every night to prevent her from sneaking out.
A perfect doll must always be safe.
