Dolly always wakes up early for school. She's up by 5 am, and ready to start the day just after 6. A perfect doll must always be on time.
As she walked down the stairs for breakfast, she noticed something strange. Food is on the dinning table, hot and ready, but her parents aren't around like they always are. They greeted her every morning before taking her to school.
"Mom? Dad?" She called out softly.
"Right here, sweetie!" Her mother chimed in behind her, making her jump.
"Sorry, Doll. We were just checking on something. Ready to eat?" Her mother beamed as she fixed a plate before setting in front of Dolly. Holding back on giving them a look, Dolly sat down to eat her eggs and hash browns.

Once it's time to go, Dolly waved bye to her Father as her Mother drove her to school.
"Got your lunch?" She asked Dolly, who responded with a slight nod.
"Good, and your presentation is ready?" Her mother asked also. A perfect doll must complete her work.
"Yes, it's all done and ready." Dolly dully spoke. Her mother nodded with a smile.
"So we decided," She suddenly told, "We don't think you should go to that birthday party. Sorry."
"It's fine. It probably would have been boring." Dolly didn't expect to go anyway.
"Ok we're here. Have fun, Doll. Remember a perfect doll is respectful and kind." Her mother stated as Dolly quickly exited the car and waved bye.

Dolly didn't have to wait long before her best friend Neil joined her. Charming as ever, he had short dark hair with the deepest blue eyes. His build was impressive as well, after all he used to play a ton of sports. Yes, Neil was one of the cute boys.
Just like Dolly, Neil wasn't so popular. Unlike Dolly, he had no problem talking and making friends. Didn't help when Dolly was younger she was harassed for wearing face masks and stayed inside for recess.
"Hey, since you aren't doing anything this weekend, do you wanna hang out?" Neil asked with a smile.
"You know I'd never pass up that offer. Do you wanna come over today? You are the only person I'm allowed to be around." Dolly told, and Neil nodded instantly. At first her parents were against it, but not because he is a boy, but because of how Neil even use to pick on her.
It's always an interesting story to tell, when they were younger Neil picked on her like everyone else. Then Dolly got fed up and punch him in the face. A perfect doll must never be violent.
After getting in trouble with school and parents, they were forced to apologize to each other. Then Neil really apologize to her, and it didn't take long for the two to start playing and talking more. Not too long the two were inseparable.

Dolly tensed up as she saw Penelope bounce down the school hall to them, she knew she is going to be upset she can't go to her birthday party.
"So Dolly dear, is it a no?" Penelope asked harshly. This girl is complicated to get along with sometimes, but she is one of the few that is nice and talks to Dolly.
"Sorry, it was a long shot." Dolly gave her a shrug.
"What about if you wear your mask thing? Come on you never hang out with me." Penelope complained, like she does quite a bit. Her black hair was high in a ponytail, going well with her white skirt and long sleeve blue top. Neil secretly hid his eye roll as he glanced around.
"I'll ask, but don't count on it."
"Fine, get back to me ASAP. Text me ok?" Penelope held her phone up, waiting for her answer.
"I will I will. See ya in class." Dolly waved her off quickly as her and Neil turned away.

The one class Dolly never enjoyed, is gym. Then again, did anyone like gym class? A perfect doll must be active, but since her parents are overprotective she gets a note.
No one batted an eye as Dolly went straight for the bleachers and sat down. She's only allowed to attend if what they play is safe. Good thing Neil has this class with her, he waved as the teacher decided on what they will do.
Dolly didn't bother listening, she took her phone out along with a notebook to make it seem like she was doing homework. Scrolling threw her social media, she stopped on a article.
A body was found near town, but they haven't released anything else. Strange. Pineview wasn't big enough to be a city, but wasn't small enough to be a little town. Still a body being found, was news.

"Hey, whatcha reading?" Neil suddenly spoke aside her, cause her to jump. She was so focused she didn't even notice him!
"Have you seen this?" She tilted her phone screen at him. Neil narrowed his eyes to read, before sitting back.
"Oh damn. That's weird." He commented. Dolly looked at the class to see them playing basketball, something that may be safe enough for her to play.
"Mr. Ludwig, come on!" The teacher snapped. Neil rolled his eyes with a sigh as he jumped down, going back to playing basketball.

The news of the body spread, no surprise of course. Study hall definitely wasn't quiet enough to work.
"Guys!" Even Claudia snapped at the group nearby them. Dolly hid her smirk as Claudia cursed under her breath,
"This damn thing is due next class. What is so interesting about a body anyway?" Dolly gave her a shrug,
"Because it's so unusual?" Claudia raked back her short bright blonde hair as she sat back, ruffling her bangs as she got more frustrated by the minute. Dolly didn't speak another word, it could upset Claudia more.

Dolly never waited for her parents to pick her up. They always arrived right on time everyday. Sometimes even Neil rode with, like today, since they've been friends for so long now.
Once they all arrived at Dolly's, the two stayed in the living room, so that her parents could keep an eye on them. A perfect doll must be protected.
Neil flinched away from the shelf as he grabbed the TV remote that laid on the side table.
"That thing still freaks me out." He commented on the little porcelain dolls behind the glass on the shelf. Dolly smirked as she waved her hands up,
"Ooh so scary." She teased Neil as he flipped threw the channels on TV.
"I'm sorrry, have you not seen every scary doll movie ever!" Neil argued without looking at her.
"Dolls aren't scary, Neil." Dolly's mother suddenly spoke from behind, "They are simply perfect and elegant." She smiled.
Neil chuckled as he continued to channel surf. Dolly however watched her mother turn back, leaving the living room.
"Don't be watching anything inappropriate!" Dolly's mother added.
"We won't!" Neil and Dolly answered in unison.

A perfect doll must never lie to oneself or others.
