"My Lord." Tauriel said politely; still not turning to face him.
"Tauriel, why do you face away?" He asked.
She sighed and didn't answer his question.
"You look amazing tonight." He said as his eyes travelled over her body; which the material of her dress clung to.
"You have told me that already this evening." Her eyes finally met with his as she turned her head.
"Didn't realise it was a crime to compliment a beautiful woman." He said with a light laugh.
Tauriel replied with a cold glare. She wasn't in the mood for fun or laughter; at least not with him. She didn't need to get involved with him as much as her heart desired the opposite. Having a relationship with Thranduil would ruin her, she would become too attached, and she was certain he would break her heart. She was hardly Queen material, she loved to fight and train. All the things that were considered unladylike were her favourite hobbies.
"I'm sure you were meant to be born a boy.." The voices of children from her childhood played on her mind. People often taunted and teased her as a young Elfling. They thought she was stupid for even trying to be a warrior. But she had showed them.
"Tauriel." The warm feel of Thranduil's hand upon her cheek pulled her from her thoughts.
"Oh, I am sorry My King. I was a million miles away..amongst the stars." She said.
He nodded as his hand lingered around her face for a few moments longer, before he dropped it to his side.
"You love the stars, do you not?" He asked.
"Yes. I love all light, but the light of stars is most dear to me. I have always seen it as a warm, inviting light." She said.
'Perhaps he isn't as bad as I thought he was going to be..' She wondered to herself.
"May I take you to see the stars this evening?" Thranduil inquired.
"Now?" Tauriel asked.
Thranduil nodded once and waited for her reply.
"I told Erwen I would meet him after his dance with another lady. Look; I shall make a deal with you. I will meet you back here in one hour. Then we may go see the stars together." She said confidently.
"What makes you think you are powerful enough to create deals with the King?" He asked with a smirk.
"Do you want me to come or not? My offer is on the table, take it or leave it." She said.
"Okay, okay. I will meet you here in one hour." He said with a sigh.
Tauriel walked away triumphantly. She was proud that she was able to speak for herself and resist Thranduil's charm. However; she wasn't sure she would be able to resist it later on, he had quite a way with her and he knew it too.

Erwen and Tauriel danced for most of the hour they had left together and stopped for the occasional drink. Tauriel's eyes darted to the large clock mounted on the wall above them.
"I am very sorry Erwen but I must leave now. I have some business to attend to and then bed. I have an early shift tomorrow." She said with a bow of her head.
"No, no that's fine, Captain." He said.
"Tauriel." She corrected him.
"Oh, right. Tauriel." He smiled.
"Thank you very much for inviting me this evening, if it was not for you I probably would have missed the event all together." She said.
"Oh..I do hope I did not drag you into anything you did not want to do." He said as he looked down at his feet nervously.
