CHAPTER 1
Most would think that the future is an eco-friendly era where everything is solar powered and stuff like that. Most people would be wrong. How do I know, you ask? Well I might've gone into the future once... maybe twice... alright fine. The truth is I've gone to the future loads of times and I can tell you for certain that it is NOT an eco-friendly place. It's more like... well... a dumpster.
I was in my room, contemplating life, when I had a sudden uncontrollable urge to get up and rummage through the piles of junk stored in the dusty attic. My family has lived here for decades and it's a pretty old looking neighbourhood so I wouldn't be surprised if I found something old and valuable up there. Don't ask me where I live though, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I tend not to memorise unimportant things such as addresses. Oh wait... I almost forgot. My name is Timothy. Anyway back to the story.
So I was digging around in the attic and a fairly large wooden box that was sitting in the corner caught my eye. It had gold engravings and strange symbols across the bottom edges of it. I tried to fight the urge to find out what's inside the box but curiosity got the better of me. I opened it and what I found didn't exactly fit the antique theme that the box had. It was a round metal object with a single button in the middle. It looked sleek and was almost definitely made out of chrome.
Some might say I was extremely stupid for pressing the button but hey, who am I to fight my impulses? I decided to call the thing Steve since I needed something else to call it other than "round metal object". So Steve started glowing and it got brighter and brighter until my eyes were unable to cope with looking at it anymore. I looked away but I could feel it getting hotter. Next thing I knew, I was lying in a mud puddle.
