the busy street seemed empty
as you dragged me to the other end
when i almost got hit by the rushing cars
and the realization that i am just another coward
with thousands of unsent letters i wrote
kept in between the pages of the book you gifted me
that left my hands with bruises
but the only thing i had in mind
was that the dust i breathed in
was the same dust as yours
and on that very day
you showed me signs
and taught me
how to cross the streets
even held my hands the same way
you held it when we were kids
but you never taught me what a red light meant
so i just kept on going and going and going
taking every corners and chances
i thought you were leaving behind
every footstep you took
till i hit a wall and tumble
only to find out that you were long gone
and im still stuck
on the other end of the pedestrian line
waiting for you to come
and help me walk through once more.
