“I can’t believe you shouted at her, Harry!” Lauren scolded me. We just got done with our Biology class, so we have a 15-minute break until Mr. Payne, the Math teacher comes in for the class. “She was trying to understand you”

“C’mon, Lauren, she was just trying to stick her nose into my life. I know how you girls like your gossip.” I spat, almost immediately. She scratched the back of her head awkwardly, probably understanding I’m right.

“Well, maybe… But Harry…” she looked down, scared to touch on the subject.

“I’m not telling her, Lauren. You know how she is. She’d probably kick me out of my own house and leave me on the streets with just the clothes I have on me right now.” I explained, even if it was a bit exaggerated.

“You’re blowing things way out of proportion. She’d never do that, she’s your sister.”

“Yeah, she’s my sister and all, but I told you she’s homophobic as all hell! My parents are too! Do you understand the suffering I’d cause them if I told them they raised their son to turn out gay?” I explained, holding back the tears threatening to come out.

Crying in front of my class would bring attention I really didn’t care for.

My parents have been a problem ever since I figured out I wasn’t really into girls. I was always taught that gay people are bad people and under no circumstances should I ever talk to one or be friends with one. Figures, I ended up gay myself and I’m faced with the biggest problem ever: coming out to a homophobic family.

“You had no problem telling me, you know.”

Lauren made a good point. I came out to her last year, she was the first person I came out to and actually, she’s one of very few people I trust enough to keep that secret. The others are my best friend Louis, my homeroom teacher Mr. Malik and my psychologist, Mrs. Thirlwall.

“Yeah, but… I knew you’d accept me. I mean, you talked about wanting a gay friend sometimes.” I smiled reminiscing old memories.

“That’s riiiight” she smiled along “Remember when Hauren was a thing?”

Out of nowhere, my heart starts racing as fast as humanly possible and I feel warm all over my body. Hauren. That sounds exactly like Niall’s last name. Horan. Quite the coincidence, huh?

“Harreh.” Lauren snapped me out of my thoughts. “Are you ok? You were completely off as soon as I mentioned Haur- Oh!” she realized why I dozed off and started laughing her head off. “Aw, Harry, you’re the cutest. I didn’t even realize it” She said still laughing as hard as she could.

Many people in the classroom started looking at her losing her shit. “Heh, what a kid.” I heard someone say. A snob little high-pitched voice.

Allison.

Lauren’s laugh quieted down surprisingly quickly as she glared at Allison dead in the eyes. These two were never the best of friends. Actually, in truth, they hate each other.

“Shut up, Allison.” Lauren brushed her off “I’ve got no time for your shenanigans.”

Allison walked away with an almost offended look on her face as if she was expecting Lauren to snap at her. What a little bitch, I hate her guts. She just likes to be the center of attention.
