I wake up to sizzling. Then I smell toast and bacon. I squint at the sunlight coming in through the window and sit up, taking the blankets off.
Francis comes in with the aforementioned food on a plate and a can of soda. I was surprised to see him, as he'd been away for the last month, filming a movie. I guess we were both bitten by the acting bug.
"Happy Valentine's Day." He says, setting the can on my nightstand and handing me the plate. It's the glassware from our wedding.
"What's this for?" I ask, taking it.
"It's Valentine's Day and I love you. What more do you need?" Francis asks with a chuckle.
"I didn't get you anything." I say.
"You gave me you." He says, his cerulean eyes shining. In this moment, I can see that, after all the work in my life, it was done. I was truly home.
