The men that were just strapped to the aircraft quickly looked around their surroundings to reassure themselves that they were not in the afterlife but still human beings walking the earth. While Jonathan composed himself the rest of the group looked around for artillery, the Medjai ripping off one of the Thompson guns that was attached to the destroyed aircraft. As O'Connell reloaded he walked up to the front seat where the old veteran was. He softly clapped the man on the shoulder when he was suddenly hit with how stiff his friend was. He bent to his knees and checked the man's pulse who had a serene look on his face. O'Connell looked at the man with deep sorrow. He had joined his friends and war buddies in the afterlife. O'Connell bowed his head, grief overwhelming him. He had known Winston for quite some time now, and always looked to him as the father figure he never had. Ardeth Bey quickly realized the half covered plane was sinking into quicksand and pulled the young american back along with Jonathan exclaiming "Quicksand! Get back!"
The crowd did a final salute before heading towards the dreaded Hamunaptra....
Evelyn awoke with a drowsy groan and squinted her eyes as she came to. She looked around and tried to get up but quickly noted that she was shackled against an ancient wall with bronze handcuffs. Her eyes widened in shock , trying to figure out how she got this way. All she could remember was walking with the monster who was carrying her sister and then feeling a sickening blow to her head to knock her unconscious. Evelyn's eyes frantically looked for a brown haired girl anywhere in the room. Her gaze stopped suddenly on the sacrificial altar. It was Jean. She seemed to be peacefully sleeping. She was also dressed in ancient Egyptian garb and was wearing the jewels that she had found earlier in their excavation. She was also sporting a pair of shackles as Evelyn was. Though her chains were a little longer for more freedom. Evelyn's skin paled as she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Dressed in a mere cover-up for his lower half and showing his bronzed and muscled chest was Imhotep. Evelyn's eyes widened as she saw the man smirk adoringly at her unconscious sister and strut towards the altar. He looked at her sister's face and leaned down, tracing Jean's face with his large, calloused hand before gently but passionately kissing her sister. He gave her one last longing look before grabbing something off the table behind the altar. Evelyn's panic soon froze in her veins and was replaced with utter, mind consuming fear. He had the Book of the Dead.
"Jonathan! O'Connell!" Evelyn started shrieking, hoping the men had survived the crash and would rescue her and her sister before this mummy did something "life-altering" to her and Jean.
As Evie shrieked those words over and over again, the men were battling the horde that Imhotep had sent there way. Most of them were priests of Imhotep, while others were servants. All had one thing in common, they were mummies. The men were quickly running out of ammunition and time in saving the girls. The medjai looked at the american with a hardened expression before nodding to him and saying,
"Save the girls, kill the creature." before letting out a warrior cry to the swarm of mummies, using his sword to wield and re-kill the already undead beings. O'Connell quickly grabbed a piece of his dynamite and snatched Jonathan, throwing him and his self in a corner before releasing the dynamite causing a big enough explosion to cause a new shortcut to the girls, the screams of Evelyn echoing off the walls now. The explosion quickly caught the attention of the High Priest and he swallowed a growl in his throat before continuing on with reading from the book aloud, standing over Jean who was slowly waking up again, lightly rattling her chains that were heavily weighing her small wrists down. The god-like man heeded no mind and continued until he heard a happy cry from the woman across the room and the sound of metal clashing against metal.
"He-buut Setnae!" shouted the immortal High Priest and more mummies came barreling towards the american who was swinging his sword with skill. While he was doing that the soul that Imhotep had summoned from the Underworld was heading right towards Evelyn who looked in horror before being engulfed in a dark shadow. She leaned against the wall for a moment before grimly smiling at the enraged Imhotep.
"Hello Imhotep, you shouldn't be awake nor free from your imprisoned tomb. " she finished sneering to herself, heading towards the princess reincarnate who was struggling to get free from her bonds while her brother distracted the "Creature" to get the key and the book.
