You brushed past a shoulder, hurrying through the crowded hallways on the route to your next class. You lost your grip and your balance and books tumbled from your hands, flying everywhere and cluttering to the ground. People glanced at you with snickers, a few of them bending down to help you pick your belongings up. Your cheeks heat up furiously, scarlet burning your face. You were pushed purposefully again from behind, leaving you sprawled on the ground on your stomach. Almost crying now, you scrambled to your feet with your books, running down the still-crowded hall.
Turning the corner, you approached your classroom, sitting in your seat in the corner and eyeing the other students walking in suspiciously. Some weren't paying attention to you, either on their phone or talking to their friends. Others smirked as they passed you, walking to their seats. You folded your arms on your desk and placed your head on it, sighing internally.
Class was interesting today, something in science about a physics topic you had read ahead on last night. School was interesting to you; at least, a select few classes. You used to think that that was the reason your classmates made fun of you, but that couldn't be right. That was every bad fanfiction plot line, and it couldn't possibly be one of those.
Oh yeah, maybe it was the fact that your mother was dead.
Even though that was also a bad plot line, but that was good enough.
The class ended as fast as it started - very slowly - and then it was lunchtime. You took your lunch out of your backpack and started chowing down on some leftover pizza before another teacher walked into your class.
"Anyone know where (Y/N) is?" she asked. You meekly raised your hand, making the notice of the teacher turn to you.
"You're being picked up. Appointment?" she said, motioning for you to follow her.
"I... wasn't supposed to have a doctor's appointment today," you said with confusion.
"Never said anything about a doctor," she said with slight annoyance. "Come on, now. We'll see what's up with that."
You followed the teacher to the office and saw a man you had never seen before.
"He's here to take you to your appointment."
"I don't have an appointment today," you reaffirmed sternly, glaring at the man. He just stared at you, trying to convey something in his eyes in which you didn't understand.
"Well, he said you did," the office secretary replied, nodding to the stranger.
"I don't know the man!" you replied shrilly. "I have no idea who he is, I have never seen him in my life!"
The office was silent. The man just sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration, squeezing his eyes shut. You took in his features in case you needed to call the police for later. Dark brown hair, spacers in the ears for piercings, a black tee and ripped jeans. Just like an everyday emo.
"Is this true?" the secretary asked, narrowing her eyes at the man.
"Yeah. Nah, none of you know me, or have seen me before." He glanced at you. "But I know you."
"That's just creepy, dude," you stated, making a face at him. He just grinned, shrugging.
"You know what I mean, (Y/N)," he simply stated, then walked out of the office and out the door.
