The bullet shot toward Gunter but somehow he seemed to be expecting it, plus the shot was a little bit off. (I thought more nasty words.) Gunter rolled out of the way and bounced up. He pulled out something from his belt. The next thing I Knew I was engulfed in a mass of thick gray haze. Frantically I looked around I wanted to run out of the smoke, but I could fall of the edge. Then suddenly a figure burst through the smoke and I was pinned down to the ground. My gun flew out of my hand and went off. The smoke cleared and Gunter was on top of me.

“Ace Miner” whispered Gunter.

“Hello Gunter it’s been a long time.”

“Did you really think you could kill me?”He asked.

“Maybe” I answered.

“Wrong answer nobody kills Gunter, Gunter kills you.”Then he stepped on my chest and brought around Beth. “Good bye Fox” He taunted.

TIME OUT. You’re most likely wondering why Gunter just called me Fox. He called me that because in the diamond ring we never used each other’s real names. Instead we used nick names describing our personality and our job in the ring. I was Fox, Gunter was Gorilla, Naomi was Cat, Salem was Cobra and Malcolm was Mac. Daniel was just Daniel. Now back to the story.

“Hey Gorilla look behind you” I said. He turned his head. At that moment I rolled over grabbing Gunter’s ankle. It actually worked the oldest trick in the book the “made you look” trick. I told you he wasn’t smart. As it turns out the generator caught fire when my gun went off. So there actually was something behind him. Anyways Gunter’s heavy frame slammed onto the roof top I leaped onto Gunter and slashed with my knife, but Gunter hit my arm and instead of the chest my knife lashed his leg. He grunted. Gunter reared back and sent a powerful fist crashing into my stomach. All of the air was knocked out of me. Then there came another and a blow to nose. I heard a crunch. I cried out. I was almost unconscious. I was getting completely mauled! His foot lashed out and sent me sprawled on the floor. I was seeing stars I couldn’t believe that I was beaten. Gunter brought his fist down and with my last bit of strength I caught it twisted my wrist and kicked upwards. I let go and Gunter with his eyes full of surprise toppled over the edge of the building. I laid there gasping for air, slipping into unconsciousness. The only thing that roused me was the wail of police sirens. Wait police sirens, that couldn’t be good. I willed myself to get up and I was horrified. The roof top was in flames! There was a pile of plywood that the flames were licking at. Then suddenly they caught and the roof was an inferno! The fire spread and soon practically the whole roof was ablaze. I needed to get out but I could never escape from the fire exit. One I wouldn’t get down there before the building caught fire. Two because the police would be surrounding the entire building by the time I got down. There was a crash and part of the roof caved in. I saw my way out. There was a gaping hole where the roof gave away. I sprinted toward it and jumped through

I landed like a cat and looked around trying to find the stairs. The blazing fiasco going on above me was seeping through the gap. At last I found the stairs tucked away in a corner. I raced toward them and looked back. The entire building was crumbling like a cookie! I pushed on thundering through the building, my nose was gushing blood and I had countless other cuts and bruises. I was a textbook definition of a complete wreck. Still I surged ahead. The fire was still raging behind me. I took a step down the stairs and then the roof caved in. Hopping backwards I traversed all the way around the crumbling structure and found the other stair case. Intoxicating smoke choked my lungs and stung my eyes. The edges of my vision were swimming. A squad of firefighters came up the stairs and saw me. They assisted me down the stairs as fast as I could manage. Things were blowing up everywhere one firefighter was nearly crushed by a falling ceiling fan. At last I got to the ground floor. Keeping to the wall I found weak spot half charred already and lashed out with a kick. The wall crumpled. I hopped through the opening with the firefighters gasping for air. We all collapsed on the pavement. This was my chance to slip out. I started to feebly stand up but a firefighter that rescued me came up and secured me. I felt really bad about what I was about to do and if this firefighter is reading this book I apologize. With one quick strike to the temple the man collapsed. With sirens blaring and lights dancing in the background I limped away into the night. I was famished and half asleep when I finally got back to Malcolm’s place. I went in.

“Malcolm!” I called. No answer. I went into his room and only his laptop was there. I opened it and a message was displayed. It read: Hi Ace I just got arrested by Salem and NYPD. I’m behind bars please break me out. Oh and behind this message is a map of NYPD.

See ya,

Malcolm

When I read this it hit me like another one of Gunter’s punches. Malcolm was in jail. He was captured by Salem and he left this note on his laptop. Question swam in my mind. How did Salem find us? Did he intend to get Malcolm or me? It didn’t matter. Malcolm was in jail and he needed my help.
