As I was driving to go pick up Tori I started to think about Cori. She looked just like him, sometimes it hurt so much to look at her. But I cannot stop myself from loving her. She is my world, and without having something to remember our love I would of never gotten through it.
"Hey, I'm here to pick up Tori Jones" I said to the lady at the front desk. I gave Tori my last name. I thought that if he wouldn't be in her life then what was the point of giving her his last name. But to give her something of her father's, I made her name similar to his.
"Right this way." She said directing me into a room, "Hey, this is Tori's mom. Can you show her where she is?" As she finished her sentence I had finally turned me head to see who she was talking to.
"Cori?"
"You have a kid?"
Cori's POV
"Hey, this is Tori's mom. Can you show her where she is?"
Then I heard it, "Cori?"
I looked up seeing the love of my life. Then it all hit me, "You have a kid?"
She looked down and I saw her grimace, "Yeah"
"How old is she?" I asked.
"About five months" she answered.
I mentally did the math in my head. "Is she mine?" I had to ask.
She looked up with tears on her eyes. "What do you think?"
"Why didn't you tell me that I have a daughter? How long were you planning on keeping this your little secret?" I asked starting to get upset.
"You left me remember." I tried to not let that statement get to me. "I have been doing fine on my own. You left, you said you found something better. So why would I want to interfere in that? I do not want you anywhere near her. You have no right to call her yours either. You left us. And when I needed you through the toughest time of my life you were not there. You know I was pregnant with twins, but I had an accident and he died. They say that Tori may grow up to have something wrong with her. I have been dealing with this for the past year and four months by myself. Neither of us want nor need you in our lives. If you could show me where my daughter is, we have to go pick up someone and then go to dinner." She said, by the last part of her speech she started to show no emotions to what she was saying.
"Babe-" I started to say before she cut me off.
"You have no right to call me that. Give me my daughter and then stay the hell out of our way."
I could do nothing but nod me head and lead her down the hall to the play room.
"Hey baby girl! Did you miss mommy? Because she surely missed you! Come on hunny we are going to go out with auntie, mom-mom, and poppy for dinner." She said smiling. Then she turned to look at me, all evidence if her smile gone. "Bye Cori" she said then walked away.
Kasey's POV
"Bye Cori" I said then walked away before I started to cry. "Mommy loves you my baby girl, and will never let anything happen to you."
Half and hour later
'Hey hoe come outside, we are going out to dinner with Tori and my parents' I texted Elaina.
'Oooo, goody. Who you callin' hoe, trick?'
'Lls, jus come outside!'
"Hey babe, what's wrong? You look upset." She said as he got in the car.
"Guess who works at Tori's daycare."
"Who?"
"Cori. He asked if she was his and then asked how long I was going to keep her a secret. I basically told him that I don't want him in her life, then left." I said with a tear in my eye.
"Oh hunny, I am so sorry. Maybe you should let him get to know her. When she grows up she will resent you for it." She said with a knowing look.
"I know, but I just do not want him hurting her like he did to me. I don't want her heart to be broken like mine. If I can I want to keep her away from pain like that." I said looking to the road.
"I understand that, but you do not know for a fact that he is going to hurt her. She will grow up to resent you when she gets older. If you want I can talk to him for you. But you definitely need to accept that he is going to be in your life and hers for a very long time."
I glanced at her for a moment, "I know, your right. I just feel like as her mother I need to protect her from this."
"You cannot protect her from everything babe."
