*Chapter 6* The Truth

Mahir and Bela were sitting around the dining table when Divya ran into the room. She said in excitement" Mom dad, dadi and dadu are coming to visit. I can't wait! It has been so long since I've seen them. I wonder what gift are they going to give me?" Mahir and Bela smiled and Bela said" Divya your always excited when Sumi maa and Andy papa comes to visit, because you know that they will bring gifts for you." Divya said" No mom it's just that I miss them a lot nothing else. If they don't bring gifts it's okay." Mahir said" Really now. Remember when I forgot your gift at the airport when I came back from my business trip. You acted as if it was a life and death situation." Divya said" Dad come on it was a life and death situation, because you had promised me and I know that my dad never brakes a promise." He smiled and hugged her. The door bell rang and Divya yelled" They are here!" She ran to the door and opened it. Sumitra and Andy stood there and Divya hugged them. Bela and Mahir went to greet them. Bela said" Why are you guys standing at the door? Come inside." They entered and sat down. Andy said" How are you guys? It has been so long since I've seen you guys." Mahir said" Dad we are fine. We all missed you especially Divya." Sumitra said" I know that my Divya will miss me because I am the best grandma in the world." Divya said" Dadi is right." Sumitra took out a gift box out of her bag and gave it to Divya. Divya said" I knew that either dadi or dadu will bring me a gift. Anyway thank you." Divya opened it and saw a new phone. She said" Wow a new phone I love it dadi thank you." Divya hugged Sumitra. Sumitra then said" I will be back." She got up and went upstairs. Mahir and Bela started to talk with Andy. Divya got up and went upstairs. While walking she noticed the balcony door open. She said to herself" Who left the balcony door open?" Divya went to close it when she saw Sumitra talking to someone. Divya then saw has Sumitra took the form of a snake. Divya was shocked. Divya said" Dadi!" Sumitra turned around and saw Divya standing there in shock. Divya walked up to her and said" Dadi you are a naagin! How could you keep this away from us? You lied to us. Why?" Sumitra smiled and said" Divya Divya. You are so young. Yes I am a naagin and so? You can't do anything about it. I know I lied to all of you but one of these days you had to find out. I only want one thing in life and that is the naagmani!" Divya was shocked. She said" Dadi you are so cunning. This was your plan right. To come into our lives and take the naagmani. Well that won't happen! Let us see what my mom has to say about this. Divya was about to leave when Sumitra held her by her neck. She said" You won't tell Bela anything! This stays between you and me. If you tell her I won't spare you! Remember that!" She released Divya's neck and she was left in shock. Suddenly Divya heard Bela calling her. While she was leaving Sumitra said" Remember what I said."

The whole day Divya thought of what happened. She still couldn't take in that her grandmother was a naagin. In the night, Bela and Mahir went to Divya's room. They sat down on her bed and asked" Divya beta is everything alright?" Divya said" Yes everything is okay." Mahir said" Beta don't hide anything from us I know that something is wrong. Tell us." Divya took a deep breath and said" Dadi is a naagin." Bela and Mahir was shocked. Bela said" What! Are you sure?" Divya said" Yes I am sure. I saw her with my own eyes. She threatened me not to tell you guys. She wants the naagmani." Bela said" I trusted her so much. She was like a mother to me. She will never get the naagmani. Never!" Mahir said" Okay now please let's stop talking about this now. Divya beta go to sleep and Bela come you must get some sleep too." They agreed and went to sleep.
