"The world, indeed, is like a dream and the treasures of the world are an alluring mirage! Like the apparent distances in a picture, things have no reality in themselves, but they are like heat haze."- Hindu Prince Gautama Siddhartha, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C
Prologue
"I love you. And I hope you don't have fun camping" said Luke with a smile.
"Some boyfriend you are" I said and started to pout.
He laughed, "I'm kidding, babe. I want you to have fun. But, not a lot without me." He wrapped his arms around my waist holding me tight.
I turned around so that I was facing him now, and he bent his head and kissed me. His soft lips on mine, as his tongue slid its way into my mouth, exploring the inside the way he did every time we made out. I pushed myself into him, going on the tips of my toes and put my hands through his short brown hair. My dad honked the horn, "Ariel! Come on! We need to go or else we won't get your favourite spot at the camp site!"
Luke's hands dropped from my waist and we pulled apart. My dad honked the horn again. I sighed as Luke moved a strand of my blonde hair out of my face. I slipped my hand into his and my whole body got a tingly sensation. His hand fit mine like a glove, it was warm and perfect. We walked out of my room and down the stairs. When we got to the bottom of the stairs as Tristan (my stupid, annoying older brother) looked at us, "We need to go now, before dad starts to sing."
"Oh great" I said and walked out the front door, still holding Luke's hand.
"Finally, let's go kids!" my dad yelled out of the window.
"I'm going to miss you" Luke said softly into my ear, kissing my cheek from behind me.
I was smiling now, "I'll miss you too. For 2 days then, I'm going to be back here with you."
Luke kissed my cheek again then let go of my waist. I started walking to the car where my dad was telling the GPS system where the campsite was. I opened my door and got into my dad's green jeep.
"Time to go" said my mom as my dad started the car.
Not even 5 minutes away from our house Tristan's starts being an ass. "Oh Luke, I love you!" he said acting like he was me. He batted his eyes at me. Then he changed characters, "Ariel my love! Marry me! I love-"
"Tristan shut up!" I yelled cutting him off. He burst out laughing, slapping his thigh, like some retard (no offence to people who have a mental problem.)
"You guys are so funny" he said when he could breathe again.
I crossed my arms over my chest and looked up to see my dad staring at me through the review mirror. My dad and I looked alike, same blonde hair, blue/green eyes, same laugh and same expressions when we're angry or sad. Tristan kept going (but this time with kissing noises.) I pleaded with my eyes for my dad to start yelling at him to shut up and to act his own age (which is 18.) But he didn't. Instead, he just sighed and turned on the radio.
"Oh ya Luke. I love you so much" Tristan kept on saying.
"Tristan SHUT UP! Mom! Please tell him to shut up and leave me alone" I begged my mother. Now Tristan looked like our mother, chestnut hair, same smile, and beautiful hazel eyes. But he had our grandmother's clever mind. Mom sighed, the music from the radio was rock, 'pour some sugar on me' by led zeppelin.
"Tristan, please stop it. I'm trying to listen to the radio." Her voice was soft yet firm and in seconds, he was quiet. See, that's why I loved my mom. She actually listens to me.
The song ended and 'She's so California' by Gary Allen came on. My dad is a HUGE country fan. And sadly, this was a country song. He started singing.
She's a warm summer breeze with bleach blonde hair
Like a fine red wine she can take you there
She's a walk in the sand at sunset
She's the top pulled down on the 405
She'll take you higher than Hum bolt sky
She's an earthquake
And you're the fault line
So, when you feel the ground, start moving around
Hold on tight you're in for a ride
[Chorus:]
'Cause she's so California
She's a wild fire out of control, headed for ya
So, when you get burned, don't say I didn't warn ya
'Cause she's so California
My dad's voice was too loud and much higher of a pitch than the actual singers. My mom started swaying her body from side to side as my dad sang. God, they're embarrassing. We were on the bridge now, which meant that there was about an hour and a half of this awful car ride left. The camp site is beautiful, with fresh cut grass, a beautiful lake, huge houses, cottages and birds. Every year they have a camp program at twisted star (that's the name of the site) and I go every year. But this year I'm not going. Why? Because this summer is the summer I'm going to give myself to Luke.
We've been dating for a year now and sex always came up. But I would always say no. I'm 16 now and I'm ready and Luke has waited a whole year for me. I love him and I know that he-"WOAH!" my dad yelled as a car came into our lane right in front of us. Mom screamed and I looked around. Tristan and mom were holding onto the handle bars over their heads. Our car swirled and dad turned the steering wheel to the left. The woman who crossed into our lane zoomed right passed us. Drunk. Her face was streaked with tears but it didn't look like she had a care in the world.
Mom screamed again as our car kept going left instead of turning right and getting back on track. The front of the car hit the ledge of the bridge. I heard a scream again. But this time, it was coming from me. The car wasn't on the bridge anymore. Dad let go of the steering wheel and took off his seat belt. Everyone else did the same. Except for me. My body was too numb to do anything. The second we were off of the bridge and in the air it felt like we were flying. Like a bird or how they do it in the movies. Everything really seemed like it was in slow motion. So perfect, so made up, so...unreal. Tristan turned his head and leaned over to me. He reached over and unbuckled my seat belt. There was a click than a splash as we hit the water.
My breath got knocked out of me. Water was surrounding us as the car went deeper and deeper into the ocean. Dad and mom we knocked out cold by the impact. I couldn't get my leg out from under dad's seat. I kept tugging and tugging but it wouldn't budge. Tristan gave it one big pull and it came lose. We were running out of air. My lungs were burning as he kicked the window causing all of the glass to shatter. He moved out of the way and pushed me out. Every intake was harder and more water than air.
Tristan then came out after me. The car was so deep under that I couldn't see our parent anymore. He pointed up and we started swimming as hard as we could. I couldn't swim anymore and my legs gave up. He pushing me but my body was too numb to move. His pushes turned into light pokes as his body started to grow tired. My lungs were begging for air. My eyes got heavy. Tristan and I were just floating my blonde hair all over my face. My eye lids finally closed. And everything went dark.
I hope you guys like this new story I wanted to upload a long time ago but I just never had the time to. Please tell me what you think of it!
