A/N: Just an idea I had while listening to "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" so I hope you guys enjoy this one. Sorry it took a while for me to update.
~~~Y/N'S POV~~~
I sat with my friends, Alexander, John, Hercules and Lafayette, eating lunch and chatting. "You know Y/n," Alex started and I looked up at him with curious eyes. "The winter dance is coming up again in a few days." He continued and the rest of the group wore smirks on their faces. "Y-Yeah, so?" I stammered out. "So...it's finally your time to ask Angelica Schuyler out!" John cried out.
I scoffed and poked my food around. "I don't need a date to that kind of thing. Why do you think I have you guys?" I asked nervously. "Y/n, we will all be there with dates. Don't ask Angelica out, you'll be alone with all the couples at the dance. Come onnnn!" Hercules called out.
"Fine. I'll ask her out later." I begrudgingly said with a blush creeping up on my cheeks. The boys around me began cheering and wolf-whisteling. Suddenly the doors of the cafeteria banged open and there stood the most popular girls in school, the famous Schuyler Sisters. The trio walked up to the table with bright smiles on their faces.
"Hello Alexander" Eliza greeted her boyfriend and Peggy shyly sat beside John. "Hey Angelica," I said perky. The eldest sister laughed and sat beside me. "Hello my dearest, Y/n." Alex, who was beside me, nudged me and mouthed 'go on then,'
My face felt hotter than it did earlier and I cleared my throat. I faced Angelica and she tilted her head to the side, silently asking 'what's up?' I ran a hand through my h/l h/c hair. "Spit it out, mon amie." Lafayette said loudly, shocking everyone at the table. "It's okay, Y/n. You can tell me." Angelica said sweetly. "I-I was just wondering if you wanted to go to the winter ball with me?" I said timidly fiddling with my fingers.
The eldest sister was shocked and her eyes flickered to Alexander for a moment but met mine again and gave me a small smile. "Of course, Y/n. You didn't have to be embarrassed...we're friends." I swallowed and felt a huge grin growing on my face. "Y-Yeah,"
~~~TIMESKIP~~~
It was the night of the dance. I stood in front of the Schuyler residence with Alexander and John. "You excited for tonight, Y/n?" John asked nudging me to the side. "Yeah but she said that we were friends, Laurens. There's nothing really to be excited about...I think." I muttered softly, adjusting the tie of my suit.
Alex laughed and pat my back. "Y/n, if I know Angelica well, and I do, this is her way of telling you she really likes you. She loves playing hard to get. Trust me, buddy." I felt a wave of relief flood my body. Suddenly, emerging from the stairs, the Schuyler Sisters stood there confidently standing there. The three of us stood there admiring the trio, simply awestruck. Eliza ran down the stairs hugging Alexander. John and I walked slowly to the stairs to get the other two girls. John pecked the smaller girl's lips gently.
I awkwardly offered my hand to Angelica. She took it smiling at me. "You look gorgeous, Angelica." I comment and she blushes. I feel a smile growing on my face and lead her out to the car. "Thanks for taking me tonight, Y/n." She began. "If anything it's my honour." The eldest sister smiled and we walked to the car together. 'This night might turn out alright.'
~~~LATER~~~
The dance was in full swing and our group had been having loads of fun dancing, talking and drinking. Angelica and I sat at the table taking a break from the partying that had happened just a few hours ago. "So, basically since then, I didn't trust Hercules around horses." Angelica laughed loudly gripping my arm as a support. "He really did that while drunk?" I was about to reply but "Can't Help Falling In Love" began to play. The dance floor began to clear out and only couples were left.
"Oh Lord, I love this song..." Angelica whispered to herself. I felt heat rush to my cheeks once again and a rush of confidence rushed over me. I stood up and offered my hand to her once again, silently asking her if she wanted to dance and I jokingly bowed. She giggled and took my hand. I pulled her to the dance floor.
I pulled her close to me and she clung to me. I whispered sweet nothings into her hear and each time she clung to my suit tighter and tighter. "Angelica..." I whispered getting her attention. She pulled away a little. I put my forehead against hers and she nuzzled her nose onto mine. "Angelica, I love you..." I said just above a whisper.
Her eyes shot open. She pulled away slowly and I looked at her dumbfounded. "Y/n...I have always seen you as a sister. Nothing more..." Angelica said as if it was the most obvious fact in the world. A part of me was paralysed with anguish and the other was simply frustrated. "Well what was all that flirting?" The eldest Schuyler sister scoffed and crossed her arms.
"We are childhood friends, Y/n. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression...but I'm in love with someone else..." She stared wistfully at someone behind me. I followed her line of sight. "Alexander? My best friend?" I asked her and the music started to become the loud and booming party songs. I looked around and tears began to blur my vision.
I shook my head and manoeuvred through the crowd and exited the gymnasium. "I thought you'd be a little more mature than this, Y/n!" Angelica cried from the entrance of the building. I began to undo my tie...it was becoming difficult to breathe. "Look, Angelica I can be mature. You know that. But I can't even look at you or Alexander and not want to throw a fit." I said throwing my undone tie onto the ground.
"Y/n can we talk about this?" Angelica asked her tears beginning to take over her voice. I ran a hand through my hair, I began to laugh. The teen began to stare at me with pity evident in her brown eyes. "You never, not once told me, that you even had interest in Alex." I said. I waited for her reply, hoping maybe it would change my mind. "I'm sorry, Y/n..." Was all that she whispered.
I chuckled dryly again. "We're done, Schuyler." I said walking away, I heard her call my name desperately. I paused and turned to face her. "I'm done with you, Angelica. Bid my farewells to Alexander and the rest for me. It was a nice ride while it lasted." With that I got into my car and drove off.
~~~TIMESKIP~~~
It had been just 5 weeks since I left my friend group. I was alone in the library when I saw the group again. I had been reading "The Great Expectations" when I met eyes with Angelica Schuyler. My once soft eyes turned into firm and angry eyes. I slammed the book closed and got up from my seat on the couch of the library. As I walk out the door, I feel a hand on my shoulder.
I meet eyes with the brown eyes of Alexander Hamilton. "What do you want, Hamilton?" I asked angrily retracting my arm from his touch. "Look, Y/n can we at least talk about this? Please." He asked and I pulled away completely from his touch. "Learn your place, Hamilton. I'm sorry but I can't do this. Not now." I glared down at him and glanced at the group behind him. There stood John, Lafayette, Hercules, Eliza, Peggy and a teary eyed Angelica.
My gaze softened but still I walked away with a bitter feeling swirling in my chest. I didn't just lose the love of my life, I lost the people I considered family. I hadn't even gotten to a secluded area before my tears began to fall. I lost everything I'd ever held dear.
A/N: Whew, this is actually lowkey, related to my life right now. The falling in love with someone who sees you as a sister part. Not the best friend losing part. This has actually run close to home so Imma stop before I start crying XD Anyway, I hope yall enjoyed this.
Just saying, yall can now follow me on Insta and twitter. Idk if you want to but I post y update schedule and updates on the updates there so maybe yall would just want to XD Bye my loves and I love each and every one of you.
