The Middle by Jimmy Eats World

Bethany held in her tears and she wiped the red slushy from her face, into the sink. She was racking her brain on how someone could really just be so cruel to do that to someone for no reason. Beth had been living hin her own little world in Hummel for so long; she thought that stuff like this only happened on Glee.

Meanwhile, Luke Hemmings was soaking up the glory his fellow students were giving him. Last week Luke made a promise to Mockbridge High- he would make the Rich Bitch wish she never stepped foot out of Hummel. Whether the arrival of Bethany to the school bothered the kids orginally, it did now. Luke had power in this school. Whatever he said was law.

Except to Michael Clifford, one of Luke's best friends since junior high. "What the hell was that even for?" Michael said as the boys walked away from the Rich Bitches (they never got her name) locker. Unlike every other idiot in this school, Michael was allowed to question Luke. Michael held a lot of power here, too (just not as much as Luke).

"Oh, c'mon. It was just a joke! She's a brat anyway." Luke chuckled, and Ashton waved goodbye as they passed his locker.

"Still- nobody deserves that. Especially on their first day at a new school. She was probably terrified." Michael said half-heartedly. Its not that Michael really cared about the girl much, but it didn't take much to know that they probably ruined her first day and Michael didn't like living with a guilty concious.

"Whatever, Michael. Everyone else thought it was funny. Shouldn't you be failing your classes or something?"

"Shut up, Luke." Michael was put in a worse mood when he remembered that he was still in junior year. He should be in senior year, but one to many skipped days and pranks landed him in summer school. And when he completely blew off summer school, he was forced to repeat junior year. "I've gotta go." He mumbled to Luke. Luke laughed at him, knowing exactly why he was in such a shit mood.

"Have fun with the juniors, buddy." He teased, but Michael was too busy feeling sorry for himself to even notice. Michael was kind of pissed at everything; especially the teachers that failed him. Who did they even think they were? The teachers here barely understood what teacher was. Who gave then the right to fail him?

Mockbridge sucks.

Bethany surprisingly made it homeroom five minutes early. She gave up on trying to get the red out of her white top, and ending up throwing on a black knit sweater she must have thrown in her bag by accident. She was lucky it actually looked like it somewhat matched the rest of her outfit, even if it is way to hot to be wearing a sweater.

She sat down at one of the empty tables in the back of the room, trying to grab as little attention as possible. The thoughts of earlier this morning still were fresh in her mind. The way she let out a scream as the slushy hit her face, and the way the attractive boy who threw the slushy smirked at her until she ran to the closest bathroom, made her absolutly mortified.

She would not lie to herself, the boy was hot. He stood extremely tall, especially on Beth's very short figure. His hair stood straight up in a quiff on his head, seeming to defy gravity. She wondered how he got it to stand up so tall without gel, because it looked way to soft to be covered in gel. He had a lipring, which was one of Bethany's biggest weaknessess. And his eyes were the prettiest shade of blue she has ever seen, much nicer then her boring brown eyes.

Beth wondered if 'hot' was even the right term to describe him; in all honesty, he was pretty.

It's a shame he's so pretty, really, because his personality was shit.
