"Your parents better let you come. If they don't, then we're kidnapping you." James tells me, a little bit too seriously.
We just got off of school and they're dropping me off at my house to get ready. Not that I need much time to get ready, I just really needed to pee and I don't like public/school restrooms.
"Don't worry, I'm sure my dad will be happy that I'm actually going out for once. My mom might get a bit worried though." I reply back to the two boys sitting in the car.
"Why would she be worried? How old are you?" Justin questions me despite the fact that he knows I'm 17.
"Nothing, she's just like that." I half-lie. My mom actually really is like that, I just don't know if it's her being herself or because of me.
"Okay, now go pee and call your mom so we can leave already."
I nod my head once before getting out of the car and dashing into my house.
When I'm done, I walk to my room across the hall. I pull my phone out, ready to call my mom.
Wondering what she's going to say about the fair makes me anxious. I don't know how she'll feel about it. Will she be worried or not care at all? I bite my lip as I hold the phone next to my ear.
"Hello?" I hear my mom's voice.
"Hi." I weakly greet her with my shaky voice.
"Is everything alright?" She asks, suddenly sounding concerned.
"Y-yeah. I just need to ask you something."
"Okay?"
"Um.. canigotoafairwithmytwoonlyfriends?" I rush out the words.
"Danielle, what? Say it right, I need to get back to work."
I sigh heavily, slowing down my words, "Can I go to a fair with my friends?"
"Sure, of course. Where is it? Do you have money?" She asks in a light tone.
That was way easier than I thought it'd be. All the anxiousness I felt has slowly lifted off my shoulders, allowing me to talk normal again.
"It's an hour away-"
"Oh!" She interrupts me, "I know what fair you're talking about. Shauna and Andrea were talking about how they're daughters begged them to let them go, but they wouldn't let them because-"
"Okay mom, I'm sorry but my friends are waiting outside for me."
Friends. I never thought I'd use the word 'friends' in the same sentence as 'my' again.
"Who are they?" My mom continues the conversation. I can tell she's happy I have friends now, but I need to go.
"I'll tell you when I get home." I assure her.
"Okay, well have fun! Love you!"
"Love you too." I end the conversation, hanging up.
I look out the window to see the parked car empty.
Where did they go?
I walk out of my room to see Justin and James sitting on my couch.
"We've been expecting you." James says in an overly-dramatic deep voice.
"No, really we were expecting you outside and you took forever." Justin adds.
I almost burst out laughing at the two.
"Well I'm here now so let's go!"
"Race you!" James yells, sprinting out the door and towards the car.
