We came to the front of the line and began to order dinner. We all got Fettuccine Alfredo, and it was surprisingly very good. I felt like I was at a restaurant, rather than a cafeteria.
We walked to the dining hall and grabbed a table with four seats. As I put my food down, I watched Ryan choose the seat across from mine. Sophie and Connor followed.
"So, are you playing football here?" I asked, starting the conversation.
He told me about the scholarship he recieved from the university and more about himself.
Sophie and Connor really got to know each other also, and they seemed to get along really well. They had their own little conversation while Ryan and I caught up.
Dinner was over, so Ryan, Connor, Sophie, and I began walking to the courtyard by our dorms.
"I hope we have some classes together tomorrow," he said.
"Me, too. I think I have a lot of classes in the morning," I replied.
"...Are you doing anything in the evening tomorrow? Maybe you and Sophie both could come watch our football game tomorrow at 6."
"That sounds awesome!" I exclaimed. Ryan felt like an old friend, rather than a popular guy I didn't know in high school.
We said goodbye and went up to our rooms. Sophie and I were both excited about going to the game, but we still had the first day of classes tomorrow.
"Connor's amazing!" Sophie told me when we got inside. "He is athletic and really smart, too."
The first day of college life had gone extremely well, and I sat down to write Tyler and Ellie letter.
Before I went to bed, I went over to my window and peered out to the beautiful night-lit campus. This had been a day truly full of surprises.
