The sight before me was incredible. We sat looking over the city in the bed of my truck. Jesse had thought of everything and because of his planning I happily sit munching away on chocolate, leaning against a pillow, and have a blanket to sit on and a blanket to cover ourselves with.
"Are you cold?" his worry is so cute, but I reassure him, again, that I am perfectly warm. He points out his favourite places in the city to me, and I do the same. I notice that nearly all our spots are different, and it reminds me just how different we are. I ponder on that until he takes my hand.
"I can see that you're lost in thought" he entwines his fingers with mine and smiles that heart breaking, dimple showing smile.
"I'm just realising how different our childhoods must have been"
He nods seriously. "Yes, I imagine you actually got to be a child!" I giggle and agree, remembering all the news articles that used to be printed about their family all over the country. His dad really is one of the richest men, and I'm sure his childhood reflected that.
"Let's talk about more pleasant things" he suggests. I agree, and we move on to talk about music, and movies, and sports.
"I can't believe you've never seen 'She's the man'". My mock outrage makes him laugh.
"Maybe we can watch it together"
"I'd like that"
I snuggle into his side, feeling more comfortable with him with every passing moment. He still has a hold of my hand, and he runs his fingers over my palm, making me shiver. The next time his fingers are in reach I grab hold and intertwine our hands again.
He shifts me so that I am sitting between his legs, my back against his chest, and his arms encircle me. We sit in silence for what feels like 5 minutes, just enjoying each others company.
"You know, I could get in a lot of trouble for this"
It's just a statement, but Jesse's body tenses slightly, and only by rubbing his arms does he relax again. "If it's too dangerous for you, we can just pretend it never happened". He sounds calm, but I can also hear the quiet doubt in his voice.
I turn to face him, sitting sideways, and resting my legs over his. I gently turn his face toward me and look into his eyes. It's too dark to see his exact expression, but the air around us changes, and I can guess what he is thinking. "I don't want to pretend it never happened" I whisper.
His hands come up to my face and thread through my hair, cupping my head with one, before sliding down and grasping my waist with the other. Slowly, I bring my arms around his neck, and he presses his forehead against mine.
We sit there for a moment, and his cologne completely take over my senses. He pulls back and just studies me, so I decide to do something spontaneous.
"I would like you to smile" I command in my most authoritative tone. It has the desired effect, and his smile brings out his dimples. "Stay. Completely. Still" I whisper, leaning forward and kissing each dimple, first the right and then the left.
His breathing changes and when I move to pull away he puts his hand behind my head and draws me to him. He kisses my forehead, my nose, my cheeks, even my chin, before he finally, FINALLY, brings his lips to mine.
The kiss is soft, like a question, and I answer enthusiastically. It's like I can't get enough. I run my hands through his hair, and each time we break apart, I pull him back in for more.
He grabs my legs and I twist around to be straddling him, kissing him fully and properly. Things start to heat up, until suddenly the sounds of us are interrupted by a shrill ringtone.
