"You're gonna do it. You're gonna talk to Jungkook today. No more putting it off." You said to yourself, staring at your reflection while talking yourself up for a confrontation that was weeks in the making. "You can do it. How will he know you're upset if you don't communicate?"
Jungkook was at a fan meeting, so you had lots of time to think things over. The words you spoke to yourself were meant to lift you up and steel your nerves, but they just made your stomach twist.

You and your idol boyfriend of one year had been having some issues as of late and you didn't think he was aware of it, and if he was, he didn't care.
He was being distant. You tried to spend time with him, asking how his day was and whatnot, but he always came home and started playing video games or went right to bed without so much as a hello.
You fully understood that he was an idol and his occupation was demanding and that he as exhausted, but this behavior had been going on for months—three to be exact.
Nothing was said because, truthfully, you thought it would all blow over, but he was still neglecting you. Maybe you were being needy, but you only got to see him for a couple minutes at a time before he was leaving the room or heading off.
Your evenings together were usually spent eating delivery or cooking a meal together. Nights were spent tangled up with one another, chatting about anything and everything before dozing off. Now you were reduced to a "Hi." and a "Goodnight." gaining nothing but short answers from Jungkook when anything was asked.

The sound of the front door opening made your heart leap into your throat. Pushing yourself away from the bathroom counter, you slowly slinked down the hallway, peering around the corner to find Jungkook shrugging off his jacket by the front door. Just seeing him made you feel sick to your stomach.

"Hi." You greeted with a small smile, stepping out of the hall.
"Hey."
"How did the fan meeting go?"
You were doing what you'd always done, asking him how his day was, trying to open up a conversation.
"It was fun. I met a lot of Armys. They were all so kind and told me a lot of encouraging words."
"That's good. I'm really glad you get the chance to connect with the fans like that."
"Mhm. Me too." His response was almost monotone as he walked past you and into the kitchen to grab a yogurt drink from the fridge.
"Do you need me to make you something to eat? I'm sure you're tired and I don't mind cooking." You offered as he pulled off the foil lid to the drink.
"No thanks." He responded, heading straight to the living room and turning on the Xbox.
A soft exhale left your nostrils at his passive behavior.

"Jungkook?" You called his name softly, riddled with anxiety and dread as you moved into the living room with him.
"Hm?"
"Can I talk to you about something?"
"Yep." He responded curtly, grabbing a controller and plopping down onto the couch.
Slowly, you walked over, taking a seat near him, leaving some space between you.
"Is something wrong?" You inquired.
"No. Why do you ask?"
"Well, it kinda feels like you're avoiding me."
"What?" He laughed.
"Are you avoiding me?" You asked straightforwardly.
"Why would you ask that?"
"Because you come in and play video games or go to bed. I feel like I hardly get to spend time with you anymore."
"I'm not avoiding you."
"It feels like it." You murmured under your breath, picking at your nails.
Jungkook released a long exhale, starting up his video game, not making eye contact with you once. You chewed on the inside of your cheek, finding his behavior to be disrespectful and careless.
"Jungkook, I try and spend time with you when you come home, but you brush me off and practically ignore me. You don't eat with me, you don't watch TV with me... we don't even cuddle together at night anymore."
He was quiet for a moment, the heavy silence punctuated by the clicking of buttons on the controller.
"It just feels like you're being needy." He finally answered.
"I'm not being needy, Jungkook." You spat out his name harshly, becoming agitated at his accusation. "I'm asking for the bare minimum. It doesn't even feel like we're dating."
"I just wanna be alone, okay? You're always wanting attention. As soon as I step inside you're like right up on me and you follow me around the house like a lost puppy asking me questions." His tone was laced with frustration and exasperation.
