A S T R I D
I walked down the town square with Stormfly right behind me. I was on my way to the forge to sharpen my axe.
I like to keep my axes sharpened :)
Once I got there, I wasn't surprised that Merida was with Hiccup there. I mean, she follows him around like a loyal dog. It's kinda annoying to see how clingy and desperate she is. If she's going ti keep this up, she's going to drive Hiccup away.
"Ah, morning Astrid" Gobber waved and Hiccup turned around immediately.
"Hi Astrid!" He says smiling that bright pathetic smile of his. Merida didn't do anything, she just pretended I wasn't there.
Well, it's okay HUN, I can pretend that you're not here too.
"Here to sharpen your axe?" Gobber asks.
"Yup" I reply and Hiccup walks over to me.
"I'll take care of it" Hiccup says and I handed him my axe.
"Not a single chip Haddock"
"Oh you know I take extra good care of your stuff" He winks and turns around.
Merida has just been silent ever since I got there, carefully studying me and Hiccup, glaring at me.
"So how's Stormfly?" Gobber asks as he does a check on his weapons.
"She's..... Stormfly" I shrug.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Gobber asks chuckling.
"Both"
It didn't take long for Hiccup to finish sharpening my axe, and no chips just like he said.
"Always doing a great work Haddock, thank you" I smile at him.
"Only for you" He bows and I roll my eyes playfully. To be honest, my heart skipped a beat.
"Hiccup are we going now?" Merida whined spoke up in the corner.
I heard Hiccup sigh and nodded. He looked at me and smiled.
"I'll see ya later Hiccup" I waved before walking away.
"You better" He replies.

I dangled my feet as I watched the sunset from the highest branch of the highest tree in the forest.
I heard thumps and felt vibrations and I looked down. I saw Toothless and Hiccup at the bottom.
"Oh hello there, pretty owl" He says before doing a facepalm, which I pretended not to see. If that's how Hiccup makes his move, he's lucky I still haven't run away from him.
"Really Hiccup?" I say before I noticed Hiccup climbing up to me.
"Sorry, that came out dumb" He apologizes.
"Everything that comes out of you is dumb" I tease.
"Alright, okay Astrid" He says sarcastically and finally hopped on the branch beside me. I looked down to see Toothless perched close to Stormfly.
"So where's your ginger?" I ask.
"Okay first of all, ginger? Really? And second, what do you mean by 'your'?" He chuckles.
"She has orange hair and pail skin...." I shrug.
"...and I thought you guys liked each other" I say.
Hiccup seemed to be in deep thoughts.
"Actually, the feeling isn't that mutual. There's Merida, she's a wonderful girl, but just not for me. Then...." He stops.
I waited for him to continue but he didn't.
"Then?" I ask, urging him to go on.
"There's someone else too. And I'm not sure about my feelings about this someone. I have to sort it out before I say anything" He replies running his hands through his hair.
Any girl would be lucky to have you, Hiccup.
"Who is this, someone?" I ask.
He looks at me.
"She's, someone we know very well actually. It's just that, I've liked her ever since but I see that she doesn't like me back. Ever since I saw her smile in the rarest of times, I hoped and wished to be the reason to give her those genuine smiles the next time she does" He shrugs and looks at the distance.
I stayed silent, heart crushed. This girl, someone we know very well.
Ruffnut?!
I widened my eyes and looked away.
HICCUP LIKES RUFFNUT?!
I clear my throat and started feeling awkward, so I began feeling restless. I kept repositioning myself then suddenly I almost fell back, and it was because of Hiccup that I didn't.
He held me by my waist as I blushed, avoiding his eye contact. I repositioned myself and mumbled a thank you to him.
"So, how about you?" He asks suddenly.
"What about me?" I ask.
"Someone caught that cold icy heart of yours?" He asks smirking.
"One push Haddock, one push off from this branch" I threatened.
He raised his arms in defense and we chuckled.
I sighed. "Well, kinda. Maybe, yeah" I reply. I felt him tense a bit but loosen a second later.
"What's he like?" He asks.
"I'll tell you if only you tell me yours" I reply.
"Oh fine, keep your secrets. But I promise, if I sort out how I really feel, you'll be the first to know" He winks.
"Oh that's nice of you" I said sarcastically.
"Hey your lucky you're the first to know" He nudges me.
"Yeah" I reply and noticed that almost all of the sun was gone.
"Let's go, Stormfly!" I said before jumping off the branch, giving Hiccup a mini heart attack.
But Stormfly caught me mid air just in time.
"You scared me there" Hiccup says before climbing down to Toothless.
"Don't worry, I always do this" I reply and Hiccup flew up to me.
"You're unbelievable" He chuckles and we flew back to Berk.
*_*_*_*_*
"There you are! I've been worried!" Merida runs to Hiccup and hugs him.
I cross my arms and roll my eyes.
"It's fine Merida, I was just with Astrid" Hiccup gestures to me.
"Fine evening to you DunBroch" I say with a hint of sarcasm.
"Likewise, Hofferson" She says with a hint of sarcasm too.
"I'll see ya tomorrow Hiccup" I say before mounting on Stormfly again.
"See ya, Astrid!" He waves as we lift off from the ground and fly back home to get a good night's sleep.
