“I don’t care. Bitch is going to die for taking my money.” Deadshot spat, punching the picture of her on the table in front of him. “I don’t care what use you have for her.”

“You fail to see the grand scheme of things my friend.” Bane calmly replied. Bane was standing on the other side of the table, looking down at him, eye’s burning red behind the mask that hide his face. “What is a few dollars when you can have a city?”

“How’d that work out for you the last time?” Deadshot retorted.

Clenching a fist, Bane hammered the table top, sending papers flying. “Failures are but lessons teaching us how to succeed.” Bane growled. “I’ll not let you undo all we’ve worked so hard to accomplish, just because a little girl bested you.”

“Fine, have it your way.” Deadshot lied. “But when this is done she’s mine.”

Sighing. Bane waved one of his men over. “Agreed, but if you even touch one hair on her head Deadshot. I’ll make you beg for death, then I’ll give you to the others.”

Thankfully Bane couldn’t see the sneer underneath his mask. What he could see was the nod of agreement Deadshot gave him. He needed to tread lightly here or he’d end up dead.

In all his time as a hitman, Deadshot had never failed to kill his target. That little bitch had changed that. Well, Garnet had died, just not by his hand and only one other knew that. If for no other reason than that, she had to die...

“It’s confirmed.” Barbara whispered. “She’s working for Luthor now.”

The news didn’t surprize Bruce but somehow he’d hoped her brother Renn could still save her from the life she was leading. “Alert the others.” Bruce sighed. “It’s such a shame.”

“Don’t beat yourself up Bruce.” Barbara said, patting his hand. “There’s nothing you could have done.”

“There’s always something I could have done.” He spoke softly to her. He forced a smile when his name was called by the chairman of the Wings for Life charity. He hated banquets but this was important for Oracle, for Barbara. “I want her found Barbara. We can still save her.” He laughed, waving to the people applauding.

Getting up, Bruce waited until Barbara nodded before making his way to the podium. Batman should be out tonight making sure the Joker arrived safely at Arkham Asylum, not at a charity event, but his friend needed his support tonight and that was important.

At least they knew where Cutie was, she’d been spotted in Star City. Green Arrow and Canary were personally seeing to her. Something didn’t sit right with him thought, she’d somehow escaped being captured by everyone. If she eluded them this time, he’d turn his full attention on her.

“Greetings friends and honoured guests.” He spoke as he stepped to the dais. “I, like you, am here because of this grievous injury. Together we will…”

“Jarret.”

“Blake.” The Garnett twins spoke in greeting. Each held a look of sorrow and understanding on their grizzled faces. There older brother Samuel had been killed by a Meta, who had somehow tracked him down.
