"Nu-uh. sprinkles are way better than chocolate chips, admit it."

"No, I won't, because that's just bullshit!"

Leave it to Lauren and Marco to always find something to argue about.

It was Friday afternoon and we were sitting on a park bench at the boardwalk, watching Nathaniel skate with some other guys.

"Both are disgusting." I declared. Their expressions were priceless! They looked like I just revealed the real names of Timmy Turner's parents from Fairly OddParents. We continued eating our ice creams and cheered whenever Nathaniel landed some sick moves.

"Who's taking care of the music Saturday?" Lauren asked.

"I hope not Joseph," Marco replied. "His taste in music is pure shit."

"The only time we'll ever have the same opinion!" she laughed and they high-fived each other.

On cue, Joseph and Emma walked up to us carrying three bags on each arm. Emma was wearing huge sunglasses and Joseph had his head covered with a trendy straw hat. They looked exhausted and let themselves fall next to us on a bench.

"I believe we found the best party cups for Nate's birthday," Emma then shoved her hand into one of the numerous bags and revealed pink cups labeled with'proud pig' . I burst out laughing at the irony.

"What else have you bought?" I asked.

"Well," Joseph started, pausing to take a long breath. Shopping can't be that exhausting, can it?

"We have a bunch of multicolored beach towels and sweets like M&Ms, Twizzlers, Skittles--"

"And booze! A lot of booze!" Emma interrupted him.

"There are tons of things we bought. You'll see tomorrow. We're taking care of everything."

Emma and Joseph winked at each other.

I kind of started to feel not very helpful, so I decided to show some support:

"I can look for some good music to set the mood!" I offered.

"But I already wanted to--" Joseph started.

"NOO!!" Lauren and Marco literally screamed. Marco quickly cleared his throat "You know, you're already doing so much for Nathan, and..." he didn't know how to continue.

"And  I am the only one who isn't doing anything, which makes me feel unnecessary..." I carried on.

"Yeah and that's totally fine. You already have a lot going on with your parents." Joseph gave me a sympathetic look.

"But I need distraction. Please. Let me help."

"Fine." he huffed.

It was Saturday and the party looked great!

There were white beach umbrellas spread all over the place Nathaniel reserved on the beach. Red and orange lantern string lights lightened the area. The combination of the chill music with the sunset created a relaxing happy atmosphere.

People we knew from school were leaning against the many bar tables equipped with snacks, and chatted and laughed. Each and everyone was holding a 'proud pig' cup. They didn't really fit the setting, but they were hilarious.

Some were already swimming and others were sitting around a guy with a guitar.

Wait.

Nathaniel? Since when did he play guitar?
